Thanks kabalevsky. I have sent them an email…tried to call them but no one seems to be picking it up…

you're welcome. The director/ owner herself teaches, so usually she replies my email at night. But so far they are quite prompt.
I've actually signed dd up but she'll only start in Jan.

Hi,pinkitty:
Personally I like Tara's environment.. clean and spacious, gd quality toys.. very child-safe.. the teachers are great and my son loved them especially the aunty.. i hate to take him out of Tara but it's just tat he is not learning anything ...
Hi Pinkkitty,
why do you need to withdraw your son from tara? since he is happy and kind of play based. Why makes you say that he is not learning anything? How old is he and where will you be enrolling?
Actually, I had been observing tat most of the time he was left to run ard...was looking for more structured program -

I went to visit Tara yesterday and saw 3 ladies managing the kids. It seems more like a play studio for kids to play. I think i will skip Tara. -
I did feel some regret that I skipped over Tara though, cos it’s location is so convenient and it is the most spacious so far. The place gives you a nice cheerful vibe right?
I think being able to drop dd off then go shopping is such an attractive prospect. Then ltr have a snack and pick her up.
Rather than having to rush to another school and then rush to JP anyway to get some shopping or errands done then rush back to the school.
Maybe JP shd go higher up, have more floors and then become an education hub and include more choices for us parents, since the demand is very high here. (OT a bit, the other day was trying the Chef Tony Popcorn and Sticky candy at the atrium food fair and the pushcart owner was telling me the sales at JP very high, so they wanted to rent an actual shop but the waiting list is sooooo long. And rentals are sky high.)
So I think actually JP has room for expansion still. Too many people in JW huh? -
Hi does anyone has N2 kids attending summer Montessori?
I am thinking of switching my kids from church kindy to their k1 class next year, but given that they are quite near and next year is the first year they are running the k1 program, not sure if it will end up well…reason I am thinking of switching is that I dont find my kids learning much at the church kindy.
Appreciate any thoughts… -
Hi Tearss,
Sorry for the brief response earlier as I was rushing for a flight then. Actually, the place like kabalevsky mentioned… does give ppl a bright cheery place and it’s really one of the more well-equiped place that I have seen. However, I realised that as the number of kids grew, the teachers seems to lose control. For months, I realised that kids started running ard even though it was supposed to be circle time and because sometimes there were no enough ppl, so those lone rangers like my son will be running wild. This has caused quite a bit of headache as he is so used to running wild in school that it became worse at home for us to try to teach him to stay still.
Since the number has grown, they had no longer stick to the curriculum so other than story reading and some craftwork, they learnt nothing…except the strange habits from each other. Initially I tot I was being paranoid but talking to other parents there made me realised that I am not the only one having the problem.
Lastly, the fees will be increased to $300 a month which I think might be too costly to pay for him to go there and run ard… -
Hi all,
I visited Tara & Summer after our conversation online…I feel that TARA is more for children below 22months, more of play. I don’t think the 3 teachers/ in charge do teach much, they seem to just oversee the kids. Hmm…for this, i would rather send them to play gym.
Whereas for Summer, both teachers who I talked to were also the directoress for the school. They speak proper english and both are every experienced. They used to teach at two well known childcare/preschools. For K1 / K2, they will transfer them to their new "campus" at Boon Lay. Summer @ JWest will be more for the younger kids. -
How old is yours, tearss? Mine will definitely be at the JW campus instead of Boon Lay.

My son will be joining next year… wat about you, Tearss and Kabalevsky?
