I've never been an easy sucker for tv ads no matter how much I was tempted to aniwaes... :politebleah:

But because I've read every post on this thread.. and after watching the video demo on tv like a gazillion times.. plus because of BigDevil's temptations, I think this time I might really succumb. :nailbite:

Go for it!! :rahrah: :rahrah: :rahrah:

It's quite value for money... especially considering that some pots cost over a $100 and this one I could get at $45/=.

I'm still in 2 minds whether I like it for veggie stir fry. With the hard veggies (like cauliflower, broccoli, green pepper) it works great. Saves time (and thus, saves gas). I used to blanch these in boiling water before frying in garlic. Now, I fry garlic in the HappyCall, then I put veggies in with .25 mugs of water (seasoned with whatever I want)... Flip and voila... the thing fries and steams together.

        One easy step.

But I still like wok fry for the leafy veggies.

For beef steaks, it works great. I put in 5 pieces of tenderloin... a bit of olive oil. 3.5 minutes on each side and the steaks were perfectly cooked through with an attractive pink inside, nicely browned on both sides... my family loves thick steaks but hates them bloody. In life before HappyCall, I used to fry to brown the steak and then leave it for 10 minutes in the toaster oven to get the same effect as a fry and flip with HappyCall. Best thing is that the kitchen is much cleaner than open frying a steak. Oil does not splatter and there are no oil fumes.

I reckon that for the steaks alone, at $45 a pan, this is well worth the money. You might also wanna get the 55mm thick one. The 75mm one is too heavy for easy flip and fry. I'll be using it to make a banana cake instead. It seems that it takes half the cooking time than a conventional oven, and less heat is lost to the surroundings. In other words, more energy efficient.
