Comparing English Enrichment Programmes

Yes, I agreed with quirkymum with the composition. Initially, they got a number of the memorisation to do but after a while, once they get the hang of it, the children will able to write out. Of course, this take time for them to get the hang of it.
As always, we would say that the course will depend on the individual children on how fast they can absorb and like the class or not. -
24hr-mum:
any feedback jan and elly serangn gdns esp compo n compre class?
Hi 24hr-mum
I am unsure of the J&E in Serangoon but the one a railway Mall is not that good. Personally, I felt that is not v helpful to my kid. He enjoyed gg but din learn much from here. He likes the teacher but he played with the kids. I pulled him out aft 1+ yr there. He started w creative writing and thereaft, compo. -
sleepy:
Tampines not so good. Science is just giving question papers and completing question papers . English is far better when compared to Science in the centre but still normal.Essential:
Some of the staff are really sucks.... I experience in Bishan branch. Clementi branch the staff are ok
Are centers managed by head office better run? With better teachers?
Most centers are franchises, only a few are managed by head office eg. Serangoon, Clementi..
HEL and EL are all same. HEL means doing in faster phase and EL means doing slower phase. same for Science . This the centre admin told me . -
Monster Mummy:
I totally agree. My child started since early this year. Her cOmpo improved tremendously after 1/2 year. I can see her compo with many good phrases and vary sentence structure. Yes, they will be given different phrase to be use for different settings, and they are ask to memorize, but they will incorporate method to help the children to memorise. After a while, they will get a hang of it. The idea just flow out so smoothly.Yes, I agreed with quirkymum with the composition. For compre, they do teach technique to tackle the diff question such as open end question.
The teachers may be young, but they are dedicated and engaging.
So far I am happy with my child's progress. -
Thanks for all the feedback abt TAS. May I know how old is yr child? My son is P2 this year has been attending compo writing class but he doesn’t seem to ‘apply’ what he has learnt in his school compo, at least I dun see the phrases that he write in his compo enrichment class. I wonder is he too ‘young’ to know how to apply or how should we ‘enlighten’ him?

My child is P2. U can arrange a trial class with the center and see if your child like it. -
Hi honeybeel,
Who is your child’s teacher? I am considering trying TAS for classes next year. -

Can I enquire which center is your child attending AMK or Bukit Timah? My younger DS is also P2 and I am looking around for a English class for her.
