Preparing kids for P5 in 2011

Hello P5 Mommies... wanna try this experiment with your kids? http://petunialee.blogspot.com/2011/10/little-boy-plays-with-fire.html
Looks like your little boy had a fun time with the experiment n learnt the concepts first hand too. My boy used to love doing experiments too but nowadays with the tons of homework, school remedial and revision for exams, we have sort of cast this aside. Will prob try to revive it during the dec school holidays if can find the time. Actually i find that concepts are better absorbed and recalled this way but it can be time-consuming to prepare the materials.
:offtopic: Enjoy reading your blog for its wit and humour.

I'll try and catch his other experiments with my camera and put it on my blog. There was a particularly interesting one he concocted when he was trying to show why birds can sit on naked electrical wires and not get fried. I'll ask him if it isn't too hard to re-do that experiment again. -
Chenonceau:
Oh your boy concocts the experiments, very resourceful! Hahaha anyway I must admit I do not know why birds can sit on naked wires unharmed. Asked my boy and he says they sit on only one wire so the circuit is not complete and they don't get zapped. But if they touch the other wire at the same time accidentally, then they do get fried. Suppose that makes sense. :scratchhead:

Yes! Yes! It's something like that!! Since your son already knows. I no need to get mine to do it again lah... I was quite intrigued too when my son explained to me.Asked my boy and he says they sit on only one wire so the circuit is not complete and they don't get zapped. But if they touch the other wire at the same time accidentally, then they do get fried. Suppose that makes sense. :scratchhead:

Well my son's explanation was much less intriguing since it involves kentucky fried eagles when they happen to get fried. :slapshead: -

Hi Ladies,
My son will be having Eng Paper II tomorrow...so very worried about it, esp Synthesis...just 1 word wrong, the whole sentence is wrong :stupid:
Mouth dry and tired from all the reminding. This exam comes 4 months after he started lessons at TAS...hope he can do better than SA1. -

Hi Janet, don't worry your DS will do fine. Have faith in him.Hi Ladies,

You know something very strange, when I get worried about my DS's performance in test or Exam when he said tough, he do reasonably way above my expectation. When he came back & said paper easy, the result is almost alway the opposite. :faint:
He did his SA2 English paper 2 weeks ago & told me it's tough, I was so worried, luckily his result above my expectation.
We can't do much for them in their exam, just pray hard that sons not careless & the rest is up to them.

I can understand your anxiety esp over Synthesis. I also felt the same way last year when my ds1 sat for PSLE. Furthermore I could not find any good synthesis guide in popular last year.
Jia you and all the best to yr ds in his coming SA2.

Hi PiggyLalala, Flowermonaster,
I wish I can go easy, let go, relax...whatever...even have to make sure his pencil case have pens which WORK. This kind of anxiety is very stressful :faint: :frustrated:
