Yes by right they have 100% discretion. So I was surprised by what the P of the IP said iro 50% rule. From the horse's mouth. And true enough, if you look ard, so far you see the IPs participating in S1 offering up to 50% of vacancies for DSA COs. For those IPs not participating in S1 eg NUSH, they are offering most of their vacancies during DSA. Maybe the 50% rule stands for the IPs participating in S1?

Basically if the IP schools wish to, they could if they want - offer 100% at DSA. They only offer 50% at DSA - just in case some offers made were not as good, and also don't want to miss out some high flyers who don't do DSA, and don't want to be accused by parents of giving everything away at DSA
50% is also discretionary. each IP school writes their own \"rules\" -

To me, the promise to those with WLs that they will become confirmed seats if the kids put the school as first choice is such a good deal :imcool: And it's such a clever strategy on the part of the schools. Win-win :grphug: Don't remember past years have such promise.
Previous years' DSA exercises, there was already this promise. That those in WL group 1 would all definitely get a confirmed place in HCI as long as they put HCI as 1st choice in their preference form. I know this to be the case at least in the 2008 p6 batch already. -
