Ok, I was not entirely correct. Not all schools have HMT. The list is given on this MOE's document:
Actually eyeing on RV lah - coz it's near home and good school. But must get at least 60% pass in HCL i heard.Verysuperkiasu:

But all schools, not just SAP schools, offer HCL, don't they? For those students that qualify to take HCL.

MOE's minimum requirement is:
a) Top 10% of the PSLE cohort; or
b) Top 11%—30% of the PSLE cohort and meet the language criteria i.e. an A* grade in the MTL or at least a Merit in HMTL.
Interested pupils can apply to offer HMTL when they report to their secondary school in late-December. They will attend HMTL lessons at their school if the school offers the course, or in a designated centre if the school does not. Please refer to the list of schools and designated centres offering HMTL (64kb .pdf).http://www.moe.gov.sg/education/admissions/secondary-one-posting/option-exercise/option-form/[/quote]Thanks for the info! -
Ds'tutor said that majority of the makers commented that this yrs psle is considered easy overall except for Maths problem sums just a little bit challenging , other than that the rest r standard level . So this yr t-score will not be high .
Wondering, whether her info is accurate  -
Hi Ms Tay,
what I heard about the math is that paper one has one or two questions that needs more time to think, but for paper two is a relatively easy paper. Most are very confident to get full marks, if there is no carelessness.
I also have the feelings tat this year T score will not be high.

Whether T-score high or not, but as long as COP is adjusted accordingly (i.e. base on the students’ applications to the secondary schools) .
So for example, the top scorer for 2011 has T-score say in the range of 280-289 (let me repeat just hypothetically, no grounds at all )……unlike one year with top scorer like 293 or something (not sure the exact though).
So the top scorer will still be accepted in his/her dream school correct ?
Therefore, question is whether T-score high or not : does this affect the chances of going to your desired school or not ?
Sorry for being cheong-hei yah. -

T-score on its own doesn't matter in the allocation to schools as this is done purely by demand and supply. So in a year of low T-scores, the COP for most schools will go down too.Whether T-score high or not, but as long as COP is adjusted accordingly (i.e. base on the students’ applications to the secondary schools) .

Need some enlightenment on this. Lower T-Score will benefit those high achievers but not those averagers?

I think low t score means tt the papers are easy and fir easy papers they don't benefit high ability kids as many can score equally good as them.. -

Hi ppnqq
Do u mind to explain to me detail , why lower t-score will benefit to those with high achievements :? -

low t-score is a RESULT from easy papers, hence the averagers benefits, but the high achievers (lose out) are not able to be set apart from the averagers due to the smaller SD and higher mean, in other words, the averagers and the high achievers are likely to be lumped together
PSLE t-score is a national ranking exercise, not 100% a test of ability per se
