In my opinion, no matter how big your population is once you have demotivated ppl..it's not a good sign as no motivation = no innovation = no product = no growth.

Are our people so easily de-motivated these days?

I get the sense that we have all gone limp......

      and impotent

            special report

'But even if I offer that amount, I can't get a local to join,' said Mr Goh, who placed an advert recently for an engineering job that attracted just six Singaporeans out of 160 applications.

Perhaps motivated in the 'wrong' way? LIke motivated towards materialism for instance, as opposed to spiritual?

I guess you can say that Singaporeans r going into survival mode Liao. So kiasi until donโ€™t dare to produce babies for the future. The key word is UNCERTAINTY". Donโ€™t know what the future holds for a worker in your own land.

It is more than meets the eyes. How easier for a Singaporean who went overseas and contact TB than a bunch of foreign workers illegally squeeze into a overcrowded accommodation by the unscrupulous employer, living in such unhygienic condition?

Many foreign workers have poor hygience practices back home. When you have such a massive population of them in Singapore, I wonder how thorough r they educated about hygience in clean Singapore? Maybe MOH can reveal what percentage of the TB cases are from the foreign workers?
Today's paper mentioned TB again, record high. Infection by foreigners outstrip local. By ratio, infection of local new cases to local population is much lesser compares to infection of foreigners to foreigners population. So how can LKY still wants to ramp up the population to six millions without taking good measures to ensure we r ready for it. Moreover, yesterdays paper mentioned the acute lack of hospital beds to meet demands.
We better pray hard that there will never be a global epidemic disease spreading. Singapore is not ready for a big scale outbreak!
