Hi,
Would like to request help to solve these 2 maths questions, kindly show your detailed working steps :
1 ) Mr Tan purchased a total number of 300 hotdog buns and custard buns. Each bun cost $1.20. He sold each custard bun at $2.20 and each hotdog bun at $1.80. He gave the remaining 8 buns to his wife. After deducting the amount he paid for buying all the buns, he found that he had earned $240 in total. Find the number of the hotdog buns and the number of custard buns sold by Mr. Tan
2) Mrs Lim bought some bowls and plates. If she buys another 5 bowls, there are 60% as many bowls a plate. If she buys another 9 plates, there will be thrice as manay plates as bowls. How many bowls did she buy.
Thanks in advance

I have enough money to buy 3 bowls n 1mug. If I were to buy 1 bowl n 2 mugs, I would need$1 more.each mug cost $5. How much money did I have?
I used algebra to solve it n got $11. Any other alternative method? -

Buying 2 mugs instead of 1 should cost $5 more since 1 mug costs $5. Yet only $1 more was needed. So buying 2 fewer bowls must have saved $4.I have enough money to buy 3 bowls n 1mug. If I were to buy 1 bowl n 2 mugs, I would need$1 more.each mug cost $5. How much money did I have?
I used algebra to solve it n got $11. Any other alternative method?
1 bowl hence costs $2.
So 3 bowls n 1 mug costs 3x2 + 5= $11. -
Yili, Lynn and Devi went shopping. Yili spent 0.25of the total amount Lynn and Devi spent, while Devi spent 4/11 of the total amount Yili and Lynn spent. Lynn spent $37.50 more than Yili. If Lynn had $90 before she went shopping, what fraction of her money did she spend? Express your answer in its simplest form.

Q1. ..\"chicken & cow\" type of question with slight twist.
Total number of buns sold = 300 - 8 = 292
Total amount collected from sales of buns = 300 x $ 1.20 + $ 240 = $600
Assume all 292 buns sold are custard buns, then total amount from sales of buns = 292 x $ 2.20 =$ 642.40 --> \"excess\" of $(642.40-600)=$42.40
$ 2.20-$1.80= $0.40 --> each custard bun cost $ 0.40 more than each hotdog bun.
Number of hotdog buns sold = $ 42.40/$0.40= 106
Number of custard buns sold = 292-106 = 186
Q2. Mrs Lim bought some bowls and plates. If she buys another 5 bowls, there are 60% as many bowls a plate. If she buys another 9 plates, there will be thrice as manay plates as bowls. How many bowls did she buy.
If Mrs Lim bought 5 bowls,
bowls : plates = 3 : 5 --> number of bowls = 3u - 5, number of plates = 5u
If Mrs Lim bought 9 more plates,
bowls : plates = 3u-5 : 5u + 9 = 1 : 3
cross-multiply --> 9u-15 = 5u+9, 4u = 24, 1u =6
Number of bowls = 3u-5 = 18-5 = 13

Hi we need help to solve 2 questions :-
1) A piggy bank has a total 2562 coins consisting of one -dollar coins, fifty-cent and twenty -cent coins.3/7 of the one dollar coins and 32 of the fifty cent coins are taken out. 20 more twenty cent coins are put in.
