Getting around Taipei is easy. There is MRT and taxi. You can just walk outside the airport and get a taxi. From airport to somewhere near Taipei 101 is about NT$1,300 ( S$1 = NT$22). From hotel to airport is a lot cheaper, about NT$900.

        hi mmm,

I would highly recommend \"Gu Gong\" - it holds treasures from the palaces in China - CKS had it all moved to Taiwan when he fled the mainland.
For a moment there, I thot you were referring to our CKS...

I would also add Chiu Fen for some nostalgia (the beef noodles and fishballs are very nice).
Gu Gong - yes yes...I forgot about this place.

Chiu Fen - is it near/at Taipei? my memory is fading..Don't forget to try their lu rou fan

Weather in Nov is perfect - cool, like walking in air-conditioned environment. When it rains, Chiu Fen & Yie Liu can get very cold, strong wind.

            Hi,

You can go to Wu Lai if you’re in Taipei.

Just take one of their buses.

You can go for their 泡澡 when you’re there. Very cheap! One room to yourself and DH, with unlimited timing. Then just walk walk around there to enjoy the fresh air and scenic view.

九份 is very nice too. Think just take the MRT then take a bus in. Loads of cafeterias and interesting souvenir shops there.

Thanks to all for replying. It seems tough for us to get free redemption tkts to Taiwan so we decided to do China this time round as I happened to be there for biz and already confirmed the redemption tkts for hubby.

But thanks for your invaluable advice. Will definitely refer to this when we plan our Taiwan trip probably next year.

Original Title: China or Taiwan for a free and easy trip with a child?

Want my 8 year old daughter to experience her first overseas trip this hols. I have been to Taiwan but not China. Should I bring her to the cities or the suburbs?

Having book air tickets or done anything. Not sure whether should stay put in Singapore or go somewhere.

More for her to see the \"world\". please share your thoughts.

                Thanks!

When I brought my kids to Taiwan. They were not interested in the sight-seeing and shopping in the city. However, they liven up when they saw the padi fields and farm animals in the countryside. :whut: I think it's cos they love to see something different. Have a nice trip.

I doubt my boys would enjoy the sightseeing or shopping in the city area. That's why we are doing a free & easy. Would be planning a farm stay with a chance to see snow.

                        Hi All,

Advisable to join group tour to Taiwan ot just free & easy? Heard many people said F&E in Taiwan is quite easy. Would a 4-5 day trip sufficient to stay in Taiwan?
