SOME 400 maids graduated from a six-month training programme run by the Mujahidah Learning Centre Sunday morning.

The centre, run by the Mujahidin Mosque, offers seven courses for Indonesian maids including computer literacy, cooking, hairstyling and English proficiency.

To date, some 6,000 Indonesian maids have graduated from this programme.

Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Manpower and guest-of-honour at the graduation ceremony Mr Hawazi Daipi said: 'The six-month programme not only provides the opportunity for participants to learn new skills and knowledge during weekends, but also allows them to build a social support network during their stay in Singapore.'
