just to check, my maid has found a new employer, who had taken the necessary documents (wp, passport, and the release consent form which i have signed) to process for transfer next mth. on my part, anything else i need to do? the work permit and levy will be automatically cancelled when the new employer’s agency applies for the new work permit??

Nope. Don't need to do anything. Agency will usually handle. That's what happened with my last maid, but I told agency and maid to settle within 2 weeks, (cos I didn't want maid to be fussy and levy to continue to run at my expense) otherwise, I will cancel work permit and send maid home.

for maids who have served u well in the past for a number of years but whose performance has deteriorated and u are sending them off, or even for maids who were sent off with 1hr notice, do u employers still pay them their salary + some extra amt, or just the exact amt of salary due to them??

salary definitely. I won't shortchange them. It all depends on their attitude in the last days. If they are all right, I will give extra; if they give me high blood pressure, I will not.

Yes, same here. Even with my ex-myanmmar maid from he’ll I also pay till her last day. You must remember that maid’s with lousy attitude do not any proof at all. Because only we will know, MOM will not know. But if we don’t pay them, it will become our fault.

even if you escort the maid to the airport, see her go past the immigration counter, it doesnt guarantee she would not turn around and bite you.

all it takes is just a few tears and she would be sent to the embassy here and it spelt "trouble" for employer.

Sigh…I read the case about the employer whose maid claimed that she (maid) was beaten everyday and threw notes over the gate. The employer was acquitted becos the maid’s testimony was found untruthful…but then so what? 2 years of hell waiting to clear name. It’s just so not worth it.

And now employers are expected to be training centres (reports on encouraging employers to send their maids for training courses). Ummm, if they desire to upgrade so much, why would they want to stay on as maids? How come our country suddenly seems to desperate to upgrade pp from other countries when their own country ‘boh heow’?

I would pay her until the 19th - it’s a small amount of money to you but a nice gesture to her and it will save any argument.
