yes, sec 1maths isnt that tough, but sec2 maths is a big jump fr sec1.
and not to mention that this yr eoy maths paper was a killer to majority of pupils.....

Oh ya, I've forgotten. ๐Ÿ˜‚ The Y1 eoy papers in RV were tough too.

DHS cutoff isn't 255. For this year sec 3-4, their cutoff were 260. This year sec 2 was 258, this year sec 1 was 257
Then this year could be 256 or 255 since there are moe IP school now??
Maybe back to 260 to maintain the high standard.
shd there be a drop in COP, that would depends on the overall performance of 2011 cohort,
which affects the drop of COP across the board.

My colleague's son at RI and did badly in year 1 to 4. RI principal told my colleague that her son's results could not even make it to any JC. Not even the most unpopular JC. However, my colleague's son automatically joined RJC despite the poor results. Now already in JC2 and doing \"A\" level this year. No retain and no \"O\" level and yet just join RJC... :?

How can the school let him automatically joined RJC? How if he cnt pass his A level?

My gal is in DHS year 4 this year. One of her classmate will be retained due to poor result.

I think is good for her in long run....

is there such a leniency practice in RI ??
where the pupil could \"autmatically\" joined RJC
despite the P knows that this particular pupil A lvl results
would not even qualify for the most unpopular JC.
this is baffling me........

yes, i too think it's better to spend another yr to brush up,
for better preparation of the A lvl, then to juz promote the pupils shd the results are poor. (not only for A lvl)

Don't they retain students in Year 5 if they don't do well in promos? It'll be interesting to see how the student does at A levels.
this is something new to hear.....
i thot in most JCs, (if not all) there is bound to have min promo criteria to meet.....

If a student scores poorly, isn't it better for him/her to go O level class. Then if he/she can get good O level results, then continue to do A level. Total: 6 yrs.
If he/she retains, he/she will need a total of 7 years to do the A level.

hmm...Yes and No....
logically speaking ....yes.....
if the pupil could not do well in the IP syllabus, it 's better to switch to O lvl class.
but once switch to O lvl class, think it's tough to go back to IP (though they did say that it's possible, \"provided they did very well\")
there were pupils who had chosen to retain in the IP track,
though they can simply go to other schs doing sec3 (if they din wanna to stay in the same sch)

For students in the O level class, do they continue to do their A level in DHS, or do they opt for poly or another JC?

i am not too sure abt this....
but since they have an O level cert, there are other doors openings to go.....

I think for students who cannot cope with the IP style of learning, it is better to go to conventional O level track and then join the JC section in the same school or any other JCs. In this way, he/she would have save one year. Afterall, the IP is only beneficial for the extra enrichment contents if the students can cope with it. If the students donโ€™t even cope with A level well, it is quite pointless to talk about all the extra enrichment.

logical? anybody agree or not?
