      Hi,

I have used both the study helpers titles you've mentioned. I also have home study. why I choose these books because they are a bit easy level so my dd can do by her own. without my help. there is another title called thinking skills for better your english. If you are looking for challenging ones then these are not the ones.
      Hi plum-cake
i quite like study helpers too coz they are reasonable level and i think my dd will love doing it. I am not looking for really the challenging ones but more of comprehensive type. But i guess it will be hard since there are so many sections we are talking about in one english paper. so far, does your dd able handle tests/exams just with study helpers or you also buy some challenging ones to supplement? my dd english not so powerful so i do not want to demotivate her by really challenging stuffs. Do you have any suitable titles to recommend judging from what i describe here? TIA 🙂

Agree. Study Helpers is easy and as such can be done without supervision. Home Study is also easy, to be used as preparation for CA/SA.
Will be getting either Challenging Eng (EPH) or Elite English (SAP) to revise with my daughter.

yes, Elite English (SAP). I've used this for p2. good one. I am going for P3 as well. There are icons and pointers to guide. these diagnostic tools will help us to mark. especially the writing section.
It contains creative words and phrases and model essays.

If not bcos time is so tight in P6, I will get it for son. He will be facing lots of stress next year, so better hold back work at home. But for my daughter, I will get it to prepare her for P2.

                Hi Plum-cake,

I need a Synthesis & Transformation for P2/3. Sometimes, I am not able to find certain connectors…so if get P3 as well, can practise. That S&T section is a killer…one wrong spelling or tense, whole thing is WRONG.
The last set of Stellar worksheets she brought home today includes punctuation as well. HELP.

                  Hi Janet,
Re:Synthesis & Transformation : I've used conquer(P2), longman P3, EPH P4( I got this couple of weeks ago) . my dd is a bit lazy to write. so I didn't force her to write but most of the time we practice through mouth. or I select 3/4 and made her write in a note book. This way I can save time as well.
Doing assesments one time without revision will not help. so but ask them by mouth again and again will help them remember. we practice this method for vocab as well.
my dd's school paper contains only 2 Qs from this section and 3 Qs from re-arranging the words to sentence, all 5 Qs will tested for editing, punctuation as well.she also have grammar note book(school) where I saw some connectors they have used in class. hope it helps :scratchhead:

Yup...S&T must revise often. My daughter hate the section on rearranging to form sentence. So I just ask her to number instead of writing out. I've taken out all the P1 assessment and put them on my table. Planning for her to do something from next week.

                      Hi Mummies,

There is a discount for Challenging English 4-in-1 by M.Rani.
But I am still holding out for Elite English. Plum-cake’s recommendation for this title is good. Thanks.

Oh yes, I bought this story book ‘To kill a mocking bird’ and told son to read and give me a book review when he is done.
