      hello Jworld,

clementi area - I am not familiar.
however, I have friends staying in west coast zone attending following kindergartens below. If you keen, may call up check with respective Principal the detailed curriculum involved, school fees charges, list of external enrichment, school bus fees, etc.

      a)\tSt James church kindergarten (SJK)

the queue for registration is always very long.
some mothers after giving birth in maternity ward hurriedly call up the kindergarten, to quickly book seats for their just a few minutes born babies.

SJK is a hot and popular kindergarten, for privileged kids.
SJK also has a list of good & interesting enrichment programmes available. Can check the school’s website, read feedback from parents at forum on SJK.

      b)\tBarker road church kindergarten (brmck)
Brmck also conduct Montessori classes, over and above the normal 3 hrs kindergarten - at additional steep costs fees per term.

Brmck is the only unique church kindergarten in SG so far that conducts her own in house Montessori lessons, over and above the 3 hrs traditional kindergarten teaching.

the school bus operation fleet at brmck is very large – picking up students all over SG from all directions, including those residing on western side of SG, and chua chu kang as well.

brmck also has a long list of wide, interesting good enrichment programmes conducted at her premises - including ballet dancing, play piano, play violin, creative art drawing, quick feet tap dancing, and the unique flag dance worship accompanied with tambourine musical instrument - for Nursery, K1 and K2 levels.

except for the in house brmck piano teacher, all other external dance enrichment at additional costs fees incurred - are taught by external enrichment providers.

Brmck core curriculum for English is strong. It is good. My friend’s 2 kids never have any enrichment in English. They just picked up English taught at brmck. But both went through Pri 1 english smooth sailing, in a good primary school in Tampines.

      c)\tCalvary pandan church kindergarten.

      d)\tGalilee church kindergarten.

      e)\tMarris Stella church kindergarten. (MSK)
wef 2011, this has turned into a 3.5 hrs kindergarten daily, instead of just 3 hrs previously.

my friend stays in Upper Bukit Timah area, school bus picks up her child go MSK daily. I believe can also pass by Clementi.

      f) any other church kindergarten nearby your place ?

you can read feedback on respective kindergarten thread.

I am pretty pleased with my boy's schedule at Nursery level so far. Once a week on different days, he has gym (conducted by Beary gym), Computer enrichment (by Ednoland) and swimming at the small, round toddler pool in the kindy compound. All conducted during school hours. No wonder he enjoys going to school, he especially like to wear the T-shirt on gym and swimming days!

          😉

Hi…this is my first post wanted to give some postive feedback on Marymount kindergaten. Its definitely doing a wonderful job, my duaghter though an indian has adapted to the chinese learning quite easily and sings a lot of songs at home and is at ease from the very start. She loves going to school and talks a lot about her friends and teachers, sadly though not many talk to her which is her only worry. Keep up the good work.

Is Marymount Kindergarten affected by the construction of the north south expressway? IThe construction is expected to start in 2013 so affected businesses have to start moving out in 2012.

Marymount Kindy is not affected, neither is Marymount Convent Primary School which is just next to the kindy. However, an old folks’ home in the same area will have to go. It’s still not quite clear how the construction will be, but definitely the kindy stays.

My son is in MMK. We both love the spaciousness and greenery of the school and of course the warm, caring teachers and other staff there.

However, am wondering if the school is preparing the kids well for the rigours of P1? I’m concerned about son’s reading and writing ability… even toyed with idea of transferring him to PCF to better prepare him for the SAP school he’s going to. Would any MMK parent whose child was an ex student and now in a SAP school care to give feedback? Do you send your children to external enrichment programmes in the afternoons?

Read in an earlier post about MrsWongTuition sending her child to a kindy in the morning and then PCF in the afternoon… I thought it was very strange at first and possibly taxing on the kid…but hubby says why not? After all son doesn’t take afternoon naps now and would be wasting time at all anyway? Would Chinese and English phonics weekly lessons be too much on top of such an arrangement?

                    What do you think?

Hullo postpet, I'm surprised you've got the confirmation of the session so soon. Did you go for the public registration on 18 Feb? I've registered my daughter for Pre-N 2013 under the earlier Siblings scheme but so far haven't received any word. I am expecting her to be placed in the 8.15 am session as my older boy is in that session.

You could get the office administrator Lillian to put you on waiting list for the earlier session (and perhaps gently remind her about it from time to time). I did that for my older boy too. It's still a long while to 2013. Hopefully some parents will read this post and do a swap with you. Take heart 🙂 Hope to see you around next year.
