Cantbearit2, is DD2's blending going on track now?Hi Buds,
my DD2's teacher mentioned tat she's not doing blending but rather sight reading during phonics class. eg. 'at', she's able to read it but not using e blending way, as in sounding 'a' then 't' then blend em together. Though she's able to read e words too wen putting a consonant in front of 'at' (eg. 'mat', 'rat', 'fat' etc), teacher says she's juz not blending but sight reading.
How shld i encourage her to blend rather than sight read? I will only b attending e montessori phonics workshop in Sep. Meanwhile, shld i slow down e pace for sight reading since IM not sure how to teach her phonics blending at e moment? :?: -

Thks for asking. She's doing v well.
Cantbearit2, is DD2's blending going on track now?
I tested her on Monday using LMA (she loves LMA, not sure why :scratchhead: ). She's able to spell out 99% (sound of 'e' & 'a' is sometimes confusing to her) of e pic cards I made (3 letter phonetic words). I was of course delighted. :imcool:
Most of e time, i tackle 1 vowel at a time. But tat day, I thot she was pretty ready so i mixed up e list of words like 'box', 'cat', 'mug' etc. Of course my pic cards is not complete in e sense there r like 5% of e pic cards not ready  (i noe it's not an excuse but e full list is v long lor....). My target is finish it up by tis wk. If she could spell tis words too, i tink she's ready to move on to e blue scheme. Er....cher, wat u tink? Am I moving her too fast?
BTW, she's enjoying every bit of e 'lesson' we did wif her (oso fr yur recommendations, games & all fr Growing Fun & Popular). It is so easy to motivate her to do writing too. I juz need to tell her, if she writes neatly for me, we get to play 'Bingo' game. Haha...of course e Bingo game is using phonics word cards. Reinforcement for her but she tinks of it as a game.

Hi Buds and other mums,
Iβve just recently found this thread again. Enjoyed reading this.
I need some help. Can you tell me the difference between the weekly enrichment math and phonics classes vs their daily kindy classes. I donβt understand how the enrichment is able to complete the same cirriculum as the kindergarten since the enrichment is only a weekly session.
Also, you mentioned in one of the very early posts of a MMI at Holland. May I know which one is that? Is there one near Bukit Timah?
Kindly help. Thanks. -
