According to my son, this is Q18 of Paper 2 (last question). The question is correct except for the names of the children (which of course is not important for calculation purposes). No other additional information was given.
This can't be the question. Not enough informationatutor2001:
here's de question for sweets and chocolate
Jane bought a packet of sweet and gave half to Sunny.
Sunny boiught a packet of chocolate and gave half to Jane.
Jane ate 12 chocolates, and Sunny ate 48 sweets. How many sweets did Jane buy?
My son's answer was 68. He used algebra to form an equation, but maybe it can be done by other methods. (Sorry, I can't explain more clearly as I didn't fully understand what my son said  )
Can Vanilla Cake help? Thanks. :D
Jane bought a packet of sweet and gave half to Sunny.

(Hokkien: ka kin ke kun, wa liao. ) -
Nvm, cause the grading scheme will go down so even if you have, like, 70, and the paper is REALLY difficult, it may even be a A/A*, so it just depends on the standard of the entire cohort. jyjy !

Don't worry for my students, last year many of my students get A* for Maths. Come and look for me I'll show you.
So, all your students must be in the 2% to 3% of A stars as they know how to check their works with calculator and are well prepared.James Ang:
If there is no moderation, I estimate only 2% to 3% of the students can get A* based on actual marks. PSLE Maths is a challenging but worthy examination.
I am sure this year's batch of students did their best, so all the best, while next year's batch of P6 students have learnt from the experience of this year's pioneer batch which is allowed to use the scientific calculator to do Maths.
Do Maths must have confidence, skill and passion. My students are the bright ones, I am only a coach, the students are the heros. I always tell my students if I am smarter than them it is of no use to them because I cannot take their exams for them, they have to learn to be independent and take their own exams.
By the way I have A* for Maths in my own PSLE, A for both AMaths and EMaths (and triple science) for O levels, A for CMaths at A levels. My Maths is ok ok only.

I wonder if any student "blacked out" during this exam as this type of exam is very similar to "O level" type of exams where some students suddenly forgot all their formula or panicked and anyhow press calculator. Only very well-revised students can regain composure in such cases of "blacked out" situation. Many years ago, I panicked before/during C Maths exam, but managed to regain composure and still get A for the C Maths paper. This kind of "blacked out" feeling is really awful and I can empathise with students who suffered from Maths exam "blackout".

I'm impressed with your students. Are they bright before they come to you or do you make them bright? Do you screen the kids before you accept them? I've a nephew in P5 who's VERY weak in Maths, would you be able to assure him an A/A* just by going for weekly lessons? Or perhaps you'll reject him after you've screened him?
Are the students all taught by you? Or did all your teachers score A/A* in all their Maths?
Sorry, I'm not grilling you just wondering why you've so many excellent students like tll which screens the students beforehand. -
I also panic when i took my Maths C paper. I didnt even study on hindsight. All my teachers were saying that we must get A for it. I was an F maths student and i didnt even bother to study for Maths C.
And oh my gosh the exam was harder than i imagine. Luckily i scored an A

Every kid has different potential. I try my best to help them to realise their full potential. There is no such thing as guarantee/assurance. Money cannot buy intelligence and results. I don't screen my students, but I try my best to teach them well. Bright kids will ask you tough questions, if you cannot answer them they will lose confidence in you. I don't feel grilled, my students ask me questions everyday, I give them my best answers. Also, I try to remind them to be careful of any pitfalls. Because I have trodden the same path before, and over and over again with every new batch of students.

My student is top#1 in Mee Toh School last year PSLE and another student is 2nd in Edgefield Pri. Both schools are in Punggol. The MTS boy was #5/6 before I teach him and the Edgefield boy was #8/9. -
So , how the next year's batch of P6 students is going to learn from the experience of this year's batch of students, if the MOE will not publish the Maths Paper, that's the usual practice here, in Singapore. I have not seen so far Booklets with PSLE exam Papers-actual ones. If somebody knows , please, I would like to be informed. It was my pleasure to go through the conversation. Was very helpful, cos I am my daughter's Maths tutor. :? :? :?
