Thanks ! how about those SAP school ? also P3 or starting from P1 ?
For SAP schools, all P1s have to take HCL until P4. Then depending on results, the teacher will recommend if the child can continue or drop for standard Chinese. Usually the grade would have to be 85% to continue HCL at P5.

Tomorrow is the last day of school for DD. She will finish her first year in a pri school. To think that I was still wondering if it is the right school for her 2 years ago. DH was teasing me a few days ago that I am now so pro-IJ. (I was a SAP school student, so sending DD to mission school need some convincing). I am now totally convinced. Even tho’ DD didnt do as well as I expected, I am just glad that she had dedicated teachers and her whole experience this year is a happy one.

Tomorrow is the last day of school year...of P1.
Sending her back to IJ was the best decision made...dedicated and caring teachers...that's a great start. I'm so happy my daughter is now part of IJ TP where I once studied :rahrah: No regrets even though son is in a SAP school and 5 min walk away.

I’m more curious than kiasu … any parent knows why is it that the school can close 1 week earlier than other schools?

And yes, DD is in P2. IJ has been wonderful for her the last 2 years!

Full schools (MGS, CHIJ St Nick's, Cat High etc) actually close their primary section even earlier (2/3 weeks earlier than most schools). The reason being that the secondary section needs quiet for the approaching O levels.

IJ TP is not a full school (different principals) but the secondary and primary buildings are in such close proximity, they take each other's needs into consideration.
