      Hi all,

May I know if my ds is from a co-ed SAP sch, will he stand a higher chance to get into NYPS? Thanks!

For us although Cat High is the nearest GEP school, we prefer a Christian non-SAP boys school which leaves us with ACS. DS loves playing chess and was in the school team. He hopes to go to a school with a good chess team & that will be ACS. He told us from the start that he hopes to study in ACS. πŸ™‚
If we live in Toa Payoh, is that near enough a proximity for MOE to also consider our application for a place there?:)

my ds is in p6 gep this year, in ACS. we don't live near acs but I indicated reason that I am a christian who wants son to go to a christian school, and we got our first choice. My ds is also in the ACS chess team. The chess support there is very good. DS enjoys the school & Gep a lot. The culture is relaxed and the teachers excellent. I have no regrets sending him there.

Thanks KiasuNewbie! It is so good to know about your experience, the chess team and culture in ACS. πŸ™‚ I really appreciate the sharing. πŸ˜„ Believing the grace and favour of the LORD to get him into the school. πŸ™‚ πŸ™

Let the child decide. We werent sure whether she should go to gep coz we were happy with her school. But she insisted she wanted and chose her own school! If the conviction is there, they will work for it.

Mvm, if it's not too personal, mind if I asked why didn't u opt for a girls' school since yr DD was from one?

My dd wanted to go to ny coz she heard that it was a good school. She made her own decision :yikes:

Just to add to the confusion, my dd went from non sap all girls school to a sap co-Ed school, far away from my house :scratchhead:

Your DD's situation is exactly what we wished for my niece as she is in a all girls school now. We hope she can get into a co-ed school for the exposure...

No offence to Mvm, but your DD did her selection few years back? (since she has her PSLE results). I asked around for last year's GEP exercise, none came back with same scenario... I even asked friends who are teaching GEP P4 class at the moment in a SAP co-ed school.

That's why we thought choosing a similar background school is the best bet, ie all girls school to RGPS. Just my 2 cents.

Yes, she did her selection a few years ago. Sorry but I wasn't aware of the existence of this forum last year. And there were at least 3 other girls from her school who went to ny too!

Glad tt that don't happen in my Ds school or at least not his cohort ..

Vlim, Mind me asking whst school did your DS come from ?

Also for parents already with kids in GEP, may I ask do you know roughly what % of your DD/DS classmates attend TLL ?

Both my kids don't attend enrichment classes except for MT. My DD from mainstream has many classmates who attend TLL but she is hardworking and did well enough not to lag behind them in class, in fact even better than some who do. I don't have plans to send DS to any enrichment classes after he starts the GEP. My question is - if he is like his elder sister and puts in his own effort, would it as \"easy\" for him to cope in the GEP class ? Perhaps it is easier to do so in mainstream but for GEP syllabus it is tougher ?

                Thanks for sharing !

vlim is from roadside, i mean, her DS is from Rosyth ... :siam:

Hi my Ds from rosyth and at time I do stand at roadside to wait for him t come out from rosyth πŸ˜‰ ....
Jokes apart... My Ds only has chinese tuition.. And he is able to cope with the Ge programme without other tuition.. Infact I think , for him, instead of spending times on tuitions ( except cl), he is using the time to produce
more quality assignment/projects works plus of course doing worksheets .. He need time and space for critical and analytical thinking ...
Emmmmm... Of course some do find tuition helpful to them . ... Like my p3 dd ...πŸ˜„

Registration form indicates at least 3 choices of school. Errrm… Does it mean we cannot indicate only 1 or 2?

anything to stop you from putting down all 3 choices to be identical one ? πŸ˜‚

Went to recce NYPS and check out travelling and walking time by public transport. Quite a fair bit of walking from Farrer MRT station I must say. And if bad weather confirm will be drench.

NHPS and HPPS easier route from where I am located. DD dont like HPPS so we are down to NHPS or NYPS. Will decide after Sat’s briefing…
