All the schools should know by now whether they can accomodate all the WL cases or not.

Why must they wait until PSLE results day to inform the kids and parents ?
Why can’t they do it now ?
The wait is really excruciating.
Or is it they want to know roughly how will the PSLE T scores before making their decision whether to take all WL or not ?
Even so by now they should have the idea already right ?

Maybe the schools are waiting to receive other good applicants after psle results before giving remaining places to WL? Maybe they're hoping a lot of students with v good results will apply, thus they reserve more places for these students?

I think the schools want to know the T score of WL candidates before they confirm place.

Not true, whether the WL materialise or not will be printed on the PSLE result slip. So no time for them to take into consideration on applicants thru S1.
those international schools - just pay the monthly fees will get in, probably around S$1200 to S$1500 per month

there are rich parents who already planned for the kids to go overseas uni, because don't want the stress in SG schools....all line up for ACS(Int'l), HCI(Int'l), SJI(Int'l) etc

Not necessarily bc they want them to go overseas. But yes, rich. Most send their kids to these schools bc they don't like the alternative l local schools for their precious. Often these kids would have gotten either low 200s or even below 200. I know some of these among my kids former schoolmates.

Yes, rather than send their kids to neighbourhood secondary schools they send their kids to the international schools where they mingle with kids from the same background. A few enter at the end of Sec 2 when they can't handle Express stream.
I know quite a few of such cases. Instead of letting kids go to a neighborhood school, they send to these branded international schools to save face. Still have the HC, AC and SJI name. Then they say that it is because the IB is a better programme. When you are rich, you don't have to study hard to be an elite in this country.

Can these kids cope with IB ?
Can their IB results be good enough to get them a place in an overseas university ?
If so doesn't say much about IB right ?

I think the quote of $1200 - $1500 monthly sch fee for international sch is on the low side. This is about the fee paid for maybe Indian International schs that tend to be lower than the others.

From what I've gathered from frens, HC Intl ~$18,000 annually, SJ Intl >$20,000 annually, UWC and Australian International ~$30,000 annually. I was like :yikes: - cost more than an MBA!!!

ngbrdad,
They are normally not aiming for Ivy league colleges or top reknown Uni. Just any decent overseas university. Overseas Uni are not difficult to get in, only good ones are difficult to get in to. It is normally a question of whether parents can afford to send you there. I know lots of people, who went to overseas Uni because they cannot get a place locally.
