      Update on my maid.

Went to see the GP today; and he believes that she has POC (retained product of conception) which explains why she is still bleeding after all this time.
They've given her Norethisterone which is a synthetic progesterone; hopefully to stop the bleeding. If it doesn't, she'd have to go for a D&C.

Apparently this costs S$1000 which in the doctor's words, \"you are not obliged to pay.\"

At the docs, new issues revealed:
      - She mentioned that she has had a positive pg test back in August in PH (why didn't the agent tell me?) but she refuted becoz she's still had her menses.
      - apparently, there was another positive test in October but by then she had miscarried in late Sep, so the agent had her sent to the OB&G.

And when I went home to pick her up earlier on, she was limping becoz her heel was swelling. Oh what medical liabilities these are!
Oh dear...and she's been with you only for 2 weeks. When the agent sent her to the OB&G, was any procedure done? If this was all done but not declared, can't you return her to the agent? What does the agent say?

She's not likely to be able to work, which is no help to you. Perhaps give her some compassion money and send her home for treatment? Medical fees in Singapore can bleed anyone dry. It's a difficult situation, especially since it involves someone who is basically a random stranger.

Yes, I agree with the doctor , you are not obliged to pay. Even for us, if we are sick , our employer is not obliged to pay for us if it is not covered by the insurance.

If it is only $1000, and that's all, then may be it is okay to pay, but will it stop here ? Tough situation you are in, unless of course you have lots of extra cash, and don't mind being extra kind and generous.

        Regards

The doctor may say that you are not obliged to pay but if you don't, who will? I can't imagine that she has $1000 to spare so you will definitely have to pay upfront even if you can try to get it back later.

            chixchix:
I just got a maid from a maid agency .The 1st maid I took from them was 2 years ago and since she was a transfer maid, I had to pay 3 months upfront salary of the maid to the agency. I just took another maid ,6 year experience who just returned to Indon, Now I had to pay 7.5 mth of her salary to the agency. The maid joined my house 2 weeks ago and I can never see her smiling ,she always has a sad look on her face.

I feel very disturbed and unsecured because I have 2 kids in the house. According to MOM, EA can take only a max of 2 mth salary. She is quiet ,cleans the house well, but i dont dare to tell her if i have any extra duties for her,cos of the way she looks at me.
I have spoken to her and maid claims that she doesnt know that so much salary will be deducted, she will be gettiing $10 only until 29 Jun 2012.

I have called her agency but they said they cant do anything because before she came here, her family was given 2 million Rupiah by the training centre.

Training her at home for cooking and other stuff has been time consuming, isnt it too much to cut this much salary, should I write to MOM about this ?
Hi, your maid just like mine - my maid had 4 yrs exp in SG before she joined me and valid passport still few years to the expiry. When I saw her, she was going back to Indo for home leave and agreement was upon her return to join me as new employer. She needed to pay 6.50 months of loan just for the agent to find new employer for her plus airfare from Indo to SG. According to my old maid, as she is not consider new & somemore already have many years of experience in SG, she should be only paying 2 months salary, not 6.50 mths like the new maid that come directly from Indo.

So I can only conclude that these type of maids dunno market rate & has been conned by the agent. Can jiak then jiak lor !!

Hi did anyone experience of late submission of the maid examination report to MOM. I was oversight the letter from MOM requested the maid medical report for every 6 months. In the letter said that if the report not reached MOM on the stated date, the work permit will be revoked. What shall i do now? Will MOM grant me grace period for submission if i write to them?

24hr-mum, don’t be bothered if yr maid don’t reply. This is the reality of life. To them this is just a job and you should think of it that way and you won’t be bothered.
