I manage to go in the last min, my wife manage to know one mother call Jacqueline.any of You here?
I was there, but looking around, also don't know how to start...
I was the big guy in blue polo..
Saw a few neighbors from my estate, bishan loft. my son's name is Isaac. -
now the thing is to try to find the books on reading list so my son can read up on some...
for my first visit to the school, I was amazed by the size of propeller fan blades in the school hall
and found that for my son's class, 1D, the teacher will be back later. Seems like a malay lady if not wrong. -

I think she is quoting a generic list. for my son now, he also has some \"emergency\" supplies in his bag when he goes for classes. -

I found only 3books in the reading list and DD has finished them that very night we borrowed. the rest of the eng and chinese books were not available and not found...thinking if i should go buy them...they should at least give us the eng. author so it would be easier to search for it.... -

Wow you are so fast. :udawoman:

I have to reserve the English books. All of them are \"on loan\" at Bishan library. -
i did a search online for the books, was thinking of buying them from online sites. but its so exp! the english ones are mostly hardcover versions, cost almost $20 each.
also no luck with the chinese ones under yanghongying. don’t know what to do yet.
i wonder if the school knows that once they put out such a list, surely all the parents will be going to find in bishan library and how can everyone get a copy? even if half the population goes through the library channel, we are talking about more than 100 kids! sigh…
praying for some divine advise, maybe i’ll just go with choosing your own books to read!
Also, anyone noticed, the Characters Alive is on 25 Jan, which is just after CNY (3rd day). Which means we still have to ‘work’ with helping them during CNY… -

i was available that very evening so brought the whole family to the library to look for it. So difficult to find so many books so I was just basically trying my luck.

my dd reads fast and is silent reader already. ask her to read out loud and she'd go like...er, so troublesome! she'd still try but will gradually go silent mode after awhile. lol -

bishan library will have a long reservation list for those books then...
I looked through the books. not as simple as what some of my friends mentioned before. I would say that though the books are still mainly picture books, they contain a good mix of language.
About Characters Alive, I think the best would be to start soon after school opens. 1st assignment of the year so need more time to prepare and adjust to P1 standard. hahahaha
if anyone wants to purchase the books and can find softcover ones or at discount, should we purchase them in bulk? I am thinking that since school reccomended, it should be a good investment...
Will anyone of u guys choose a book of different standard? like more difficult, but also matches child's level?
what are some of the book titles ur kids are reading now?
