For P1 & P2, NCPS only uses higher chinese, no normal chinese. I am not sure for upper pri though. When the good ones are told to pursue higher chinese, the rest go back to normal chinese?

I have received the letter from NCPS. This year no testing of the children as according to the admin staff. The class listed on the letter is the confirmed class next year 2012. I find it not fair , as I some how knew how it was being arranged to which class your DS or DD is suppose or not suppose to be... some how is very \"Confidential\"

Anyway, a lot of parents don't like the ideal of the child being tested. But from the point of my view, I find that tests conducted in the school during orientation is much fairer for our kids to arrange which class to go to in primary 1, is much more fairer then this way....

Also, In Primary 2 , if your child results are good especially in chinese, normally will go to class A or B for higher chinese. What I understand they have a lot of Chinese assignment to do ...[/quote]The assessment the children went through last yr was not for class allocation which was made known to parents before orientation. The assessment was more to identify weaker students and to recommend them to attend the holiday programmes organised by the Alumni. So I guess some form of assessments, in the form of games etc, will still be given. Else what do they do when they are lead to class by the teachers and stay there for few hours.

Hi, you know how they are arranged into the classes? is there any difference whether being in A class or J class? i thought that the first 3 classes are considered good only after P1 or P2? i am just curious how the students are allocated.

How they arrange the P1 class is not important as there is no basis at all. Good students can be in any class as I observed. Only in P3 then the top 2 or 3 classes are considered good. By the way, they will be in same class for both P1 & P2.

Come on lah. There is a differences in which classes in Primary 1 for our DS,
DD are in, almost everywhere in Singapore schools all the same. We all parents knew it. Just that we have to try to think in a more positive way , that's all .

Anyway, I called the admin staff, and what she told me the form was not attached. On 23rd Nov 2011, just check with the staffs when we reach there, there will be several notice boards stating the classes for parents to sit .

Come on lah. There is a differences in which classes in Primary 1 for our DS,
DD are in, almost everywhere in Singapore schools all the same. We all parents knew it. Just that we have to try to think in a more positive way , that's all .

Since you said so, can you pls enlighten us? It simply doesn't make sense, what is the basis? The school doesn't even know the ability of the children prior to P1. As I said, it's totally non academic in the class allocation, maybe they use some other non-academic parameters of the kids. So don't imagine or read too much into it and cause unnecessary stress. What's the diff between A or J, kids perform well in all classes. The tops can come from any class as I have experienced.

The only common basis between students in one school and even other schools is the PSLE. So I don't even want to compare with kids from other schools since standards in the assessment/exam can be very different.

Example the most basic things is that their spellings is different. Different classes have different standards of spellings. This is the most basic differences.

So you mean that the first two classes for Pri 1 are ‘better’ class? and the rest no different. Can share how they allocate? Based on the kindergarten they attend?

The spellings are the same for all classes, don't quite get what you mean. We have crossed check between parents, do you have substantial evidence to say so? Which P1 class is your kid, can you show us an example of one of the spelling with date? This is easy to check among us with kids in P1 this yr.
