      ASLMUM:
Any mums here that went for the MTP last night for P3s? Can share some highlights on importants points and also what's are the key difference when our kids go to P4 next year. Appreciate your help.

      Thanks
      A. 4 GEP classes.

      B. 60 students (2-5% based on GEP results) selected for META program.

      C. 2 or 3 HA classes based on the average of 4 subjects but only Maths and Science will be used to determine the allocation of the actual class. Other factors like boy/girl ratio etc.

      D. 6 classes for the rest.

The presentation slides should be posted on the school website soon.

Hi hi I was there. I quite ignored the principal as she is too long winded.
143 went into GEP round 2. 34 in GEP and 60 will be in META.
Verbally she said 3 classes band for High Achiever class but on slides it shows 2. So this is still pending. Banding based on Math and science, she said strong in Math usually will be strong in science ( ha ha I beg to differ, my girl got 90 over for math but her science is band 2) Class allocation pending for teachers to update u probably they need to wait for GEP allocation, META form to be submitted thereafter the banding will start. Based on last year experience, I think we can wait till last week of Dec.

Next on Result Analysis - Level
        English : Mean 83.20 Highest 98 Lowest 26
        Chinese : Mean 79.2 Highest 96 Lowest 15
        Math : Mean 80.5 Highest 100 Lowest 18 (75% of the students got A - A*
        Science : Mean 75.5 Highest 97 Lowest 17 ( 65.4% of the students got A-A*)

By the way, which class is your kiddo in ? Mine in 3D

        Thanks chiclil for the update.

I'm guessing the META is some sort like the intertwine program whereby the kids get to mix with the GEP students for some lessons? These META students can come from various classes, including the HA classes? Also, when will know if our kids are selected for META? Understand there's a briefing this sat on META? HAs anyone received any notifications?

Btw, my DS is in 3H. 🙂

META are those qualify for round 2 GEP but not selected. MOE has identified these 60 kids. If your kid is selected, should receive the registration form today as need to submit by 21 Nov

              Hi mommyNg

Very poor communication - Yes I agreed. Same thing happened to me; the school called me a few days before her music exam that if she absent from this test, no awards will be given to her. I asked the teacher why we have not been informed in the first place of all this policy. Nowadays external exam is very common for kids now are so unfair and what if happened that the poor child was sick on that day? Well, only a word sorry nothing can be done.

I hope to see better improvement with this new P. (Implement better policy) current policy too rigid.

Busymom has said give your DD a good hug and go celebrate! The award is just a piece of paper. Most important is she continues to excel on her studies.

Just a very generalised observation…do girls tend to do better in NYPS in lower primary? And boys catch up much later?

                  Wintersoul15:
Thanks to all who have replied me. I got my info from one teacher. From the way I see, seems that different teacher says different thing which means THEY will NOT tell. As for top 4 HA class, it's zig zag streaming. This, I am sure cos the school did e same for other levels n GEP, Masta classes. It's more scary cos competition is more \" close\", as close as full marks for whole class.

                  Hi Wintersoul15

I see the same thing as you different teacher says different thing. I don't know who to listen sometime. They will NOT tell you the real things especially relating to results.

Thanks! So is P1 already very stressful given the numerous little tests?

I am starting to feel stress putting my DD in this school.

Too emphasize on academic, even though she has done well overall 95% and yet I feel the teacher expect her to do better after talking to her teacher.

P1 only already so stressful. 😓
