All About Getting Help for Students Weak in Math
-
HI Kelpw!
Math is easy to score if you help boost your daughter’s confidence. I once taught a student who scored U-grade throughout from P3-P5 but she managed to scored a pass for PSLE. Anyway, an easy way I feel that can boost your child’s morale is to tell her the different tricks on how to solve questions. For example, if your child is weak in understanding more than or less than (since she’s in P2), tell her that the first number always belong to the more than or less than.
Eg. 321 is 10 more than _____? So, 'more than" belongs to 321, therefore, answer is definitely smaller.
Should you need more in such concept, you may always feel free to pm me. More than willing to help you. Advise is to find a young yet experienced tutor to create that interest in your girl for mathematics. -
Hi passionformath!
Its a good tip.Pls provide some tips here.My son always lose marks in careless.Any tips?TIA.
He just do it fast. -
Hey!
I have more of such concept for the upper primary. For lower primary, I think they lose more marks in problem sums that have such more than, less than, fewer than questions and at the end, they ask the total. The kids tend to have more mistakes on that which I don’t know why. I made my child to highlight every word that says more than less than and it works. So you guys may want to try it.
Also, if they tend to be confuse (for P2 level) on converting dollar to cents and vice versa, just tell them to ignore the decimal to become cents and from cents to become dollar, just count 2 space. I tried explaining the logic behind but my child is always confuse so I gave up and teach him this way.
Only intend to tell him the logic when he grows slightly older. -

My daughter was weak at math before, but she has made great progress since we began to use beestar. The math program is full of all real life world problems, challenging stuff to help kids thinking and free - some of them make my daughter think or is a great opportunity for me teach advanced concepts. I think it is a well-and easy used program.Hi Fellow parents,
My younger daughter is falling way behind for her P2 study this year. She will be in P3 next year and i despartely need help for her math subject. Any one can help or able to advise me which tuition centre is good? I know my daughter is weak in problem sum solving and logistic thinking
Appreciate it if you could pfrovide me some form of advice of how i can help her

Hello parents.
i’m a mathematics tutor myself, currently tutoring a secondary 3 e maths student.
I’m a JC graduate, currently awaiting the release of results.
I do understand the trouble your child is going through, as i’ve been through that phase. And i’ve understood the way to overcome it.
I’ve a year of experience in tutoring, and rates are definitely cheap.
Do contact me at 98365216 if you have any queries.

hi everyone, I am new here. My boy is in P5 this year, failed his CA1 and SA1 math. I am currently looking for some help. I sent him to one enrichment centre, only 6 students, and he came home telling me half of the time is spent waiting for the teacher because she will go round coaching the students individually. I like the centre as they group the problem sums according to the different strategy used, but my son is not absorbing as he came home forgetting how to do.What kind of help should I get? appreciate your contributions. thanks.

I feel that maths is all about practice.
If he has to spend a lot of time waiting, it may not be ideal. The next step could be to go for private tutoring (ie one to one) but this you have to be very careful as the tutor may not be a good teacher.
I’ll pm you the place my kid goes to (not that it’s a secret), you may like to explore if it’s suitable for your child.
