            Breadandmuffins:
            hi 24hr mum

the long time in toilet is very common. for mine, its half an hr in afternoon and another half hr at nite sometimes 45mins.

Can i check with u abt the date of transfer? I hvnt rec any IPA letter yet but her very pushy agent told me it has been approved and want to pick her up on Saturday. But I thought she can go only on transfer date
? Is the transfer date calulated as 7 days from date that the agent s\\`ubmit the transfer form or 7 days from date of approval? Thanks
sorry for the late reply. my maid left 1 wk ago, now i am all the time doing hsework. hvnt settled down.

when i got the IPA letter from MOM, it says the maid can go over only AFTER the new work permit is issued. so in my case, the new employer had wantd her to go over on 11th, on 11th, the agt keyed in the issuance of new work permit (it automatically cancel the WP for old employer). its instant. and maid goes over on same day. but the IPA letter was recd a few days earlier.no need to be 7 days.

ask the agt to email u the IPA letter to show the approval. once this letter is issued by MOM, the agt can key in the issuance of NEW wk permit under new employer name, THEN the maid can go over. no need to wait for 7 days to ask for issuance of new wp. most impt is get MOM letter. MOM will mail it to u. u cannot let maid go unless the agt has asked for issuance of new wp in the system and emailed u the maid's employment history to show that in the system the maid has a new employer already.

              hi breadandmuffins,

you can call MOM to enquiry about the date of transfer. I signed form for transfer on a Friday and on the following Tues, my maid told me early in the morning that she can leave, I was kinda of shock and part of me dun really believe her cause she often lies and was wondering why so fast. So i called MOM to make sure everything is in place and to my relief, what my maid told me was true and i sent her back to the agent on the same day. Relief cause once MOM cancel her WP with me, she is no longer under my liabilities.

thank you. my maid already left last saturday. her agent told me that the transfer was approved on thursday and she wanted my maid to go new employers hse on saturday, i hvnt rec’d the IPA then so i called mom to confirm. her agent also gave me the new employers IPA.

Was really madness these few days but today I started some part time help so was a great relief. My two oldest kids offered to help which is really nice but of course the standard not there yet. No regrets letting her go. At most I will get another one if cannot cope. No one is indispensable…

My maid 2 years contract is going to finished, I am quite satisfied about her work, the only thing I feel uncomfortable is she is too close to my husband. To get a new one also is a risk, I get headache now. Should I renew her?

Anyone can give me advice? Thanks! :?:

I have 2 ds age 11 and 9, I plan to get a part-time helper, but my husband strongly disagreed, because he likes her service. How?

Hi all, i haven’t been visiting this thread for a while but now i’m having a big headache with my filipino maid and need advice from you guys.

We found out recently she has a facebook account (although she specifically denied it when we asked her before). She even took pics of herself (fully made-up and dressed sexily) in our rooms and posted it there. And she seems to be online whenever i’m not at home. She also posted comments about us and disclosed the day she’ll be leaving with us overseas for holiday. She is even liaising with her friends overseas to meet up (she made some friends there when we traveled there before).

I’m really p*ssed that she’s lying to us and disclosing so much info online (she has 800+ "friends" on FB!!). This subjects us to the risk of robbery etc.

Is it very common for maids to have FB accounts nowadays? We are already very liberal in terms of letting her own mobile phones (she has 2 simple ones w/o camera functions, so obviously she secretly owns a 3rd w/ camera and internet functions).

Now i’m debating if i should
                      1) confront with her to ask her to cancel the FB account, which will definitely make her v unhappy; or
                      2) just send her back home. She’s ok w/ housework and we also really need a maid but the trust issue is really bothering me. Is it too much for us to send her home?

If you've a maid that meet your job requirements and well-behaved then keep her. It's difficult to get a good maid.

Maids, especially Filo maids, are very sociable and network with their family and peers a lot since they're working overseas. In fact, if I'm not wrong, they're the ones with the highest networking in the world. We talk about our maids and, similiarly, maids talk about us. These are something we need to recognize and accept.

My maid also has a FB account, 2 handphones, does a lot of sms, pose some of her photos in my house and surf the net too. This is part and parcel of their social life. Try forbidding all these on your children and see what would become of them? Of course your children (and the maid) will find ways and means to do them without letting you know, right? What's the point in playing cat-and-mouse game and wasting everybody's time and effort?

The important thing is for the employer to tell the maid that what they're doing doesn't interferes with their work. Give them certain times to do such things. As for dressing sexily and posting their pictures on line that's their private life as long as they're not wearing your clothing. And for comments on you/your family as long as they're not nasty tell her to limit them.

If foreign workers can own 2 or more handphones why can't a maid have that priviledge too? Controlling their use is more important than forbidding them to use otherwise your maid will be unhappy, feel isolated and (most likely) resign in the end. Another maid you employ will behave likewise....sooner or later.

                        :boogie:
