      Summer Montessori,

Anyone feels that the leaving of one of the founders of the school has any impact on the quality of the program at the school?

I'm not sure. sigh. I would be ok if the teachers are as good? I need to visit again to find out. Cos I don't know the new teachers since the one I last met was the one who left. 😞 And she's the one who is supposed to teach our kids (our kids' age group). sigh.

          Kabalevsky,

Can share and feedback to us after you visited the school again?
Not so sure whether the other teacher is good or not?
Any other good playgroup beside this school?
          TIA 🙂

Actually the other main teacher is not bad so far, seems quite committed…I notice that quite a number of the new teachers are actually parents of the kids in the school though…

BTW, since your kid is not in the school yet, how did they inform you about the teacher leaving? Did they say who the new teacher is? *sign*…I think in this industry is all the same whenever you go, talk is easy but sustainability is a big issue…

                Sean wife,

Your child is with summer now? I Know that 1 of the teacher whose girl is with them! Who are the other teachers? The Sch only has 2-3 teachers!

Hi Dec, sure, will definitely update after I visit but they haven’t gotten back to me about a suitable date to visit yet. They say probably after their term ends in mid Dec?

If I don’t put her in this school, I’m also not sure where I should try. Perhaps the TAra at JP? Even though it is mainly for play but still it is 2h of socialisation with other kids and other adults?

Sean Wife, the other Principal of the school told me the other one left. From what she said, I think she calls everyone up to inform them? You too received the call, is it?

I did what any parent would do, ask her about the teachers who will teach my girl then. She said she has asked 2 more teachers or something. I am not too sure because I haven’t seen them and I don’t know if these 2 are the same people you are talking about? But I did ask her where did she source for them and she said they are the parents of current kids and used to be teachers so they are trained?

From my viewpoint, I can see some pros and cons of having own kids in the school. The pro is, the teacher must believe in what she is teaching herself. If her own kids are in the school, the school should be good and impt enough for her to place her own kids there. I would trust the school to a certain extent because of this.

However, as a mom myself, i know kids of this age tend to stick to mommy. I wonder if they can teach effectively if their kids need their attention all the time? As I said, these are what I wonder about, so I won’t know until I go and take a look myself. The kids may not be in the same class?

About sustainability, yup, it is tough. Hope they can sustain though, and add more choices to this area. I like the idea of the Principal herself being there and teaching too. It is good for her to be directly involved. Now with 2 campuses and the P at the other side, I don’t know. sigh… All was really ideal until one P left.

                  Buds, thanks for the hugs!

I figured you needed it..

I can empathize with you over the turn of events.
After all that ground work.. all that recce.. all that effort..
I'm sure you're somewhat crushed to find out about your
child's future teacher leaving, especially since you've seen/
chatted her up during your visit/registration. As a mom, you
can already imagine all the fun she'd have learning & all the
                    many things she'd be learning..

Some things just can't be helped sometimes.. :snuggles:

I think there are 2-3 teachers at each campus which is actually not too bad for about 15 kids...I haven't really talk to the other teachers too, so can't much too...

Ya, I was informed by the other P too…I think currently she teaches mainly the older kids in the new campus. Although verbally she did mention that she will see the kids currently under her care through K1-K2, what happen about the other P leaving does leave me a little bit shaken about my initial confidence in her words….

One parent I talk to previously also mention that Summer’s Chinese curriculum could be quite weak, so while I am quite confident of their English/Maths teachings, I think Chinese wise, cannot depend entirely on them.
