Thanks michyms and Tinkerbelle. That's what I thought too but when I looked at the list of names pasted on the classroom door the other day, the Reg. No was that long series of numbers.

Under comments on the list, I saw some girls applied for Tamil and Japanese, didn't know these languages were offered by MOE for primary school.

      Hi phoenix,
Oh, didn't realise the sch has included the long series of numbers on the class list too. So do you know your DD's register number then?

Japanese, French & Punjabi are not offered in MCS so students taking these subjects must take them up externally through other language schs. It just means they are exempted from attending MT lessons while the others are having their MT lessons.

There was 2 columns on the class list before the names, the first was 1-30 in alphabetical order which I realize now is the number the children must always include after their names on worksheets and the official long registration number.

My daughter takes French and when I spoke to MOE if this subject was offered at Primary School level, they said no so that's why I was just curious to see other students applying for Japanese and Hindi.[/quote]Hi phoenix,
So is your DD currently already learning French at an external language sch? Is she exempted from MT in sch then? I know there's a P3 gal in MCS who takes French externally and she's exempted from MT in sch as her Dad is French.

My friend told me the same thing about the Chinese Character cards bu I still bought them. If the school don't use, I will use it to teach my dd to recognized the Chinese character.
        :hi5: That's what I used to do with DD2.
I'll teach her how to read and recognise the characters and then jumble the pile up and get her to find the characters I want.
Another game I used to 'play' with her was getting her to match 词语 like 下 with 雨; 老 with 师; 上 with 课 etc. 😂

          Hi Tinkerbelle,

My DD has been learning French as a third language at an external language school plus a private tutor to read stories and sing French songs with her at home for a few years now. She will take Mandarin in school as that is her MT.

            hi alll,

i can't recollect why there was a payment of $3.50 in the classroom..
is it for the report book?
then must de-select from the booklist, right?...

I will assume that we need not buy the report book anymore since we already pay $3.50 in the class room.

KSmum, I only paid $17.50 for 好朋友. I asked whether I can pay the $3.50 for report book but they said they were not collecting it.... It's so strange some classes collected for the report card and some didn't! :scratchhead:

              Hi Tink

Just ordered thee books online. I kinda ordered the assessment papers that they have as well. I thought it wouldn't hurt.

Got them to deliver to my place as I'd be too busy over the next couple of weeks to make arrangements to pick up the books. My girl is quite excited about it and so am I. Kinda looking forward to it. hee hee hee

              Hi fmastuki,
Yeah...it's always exciting to get new textbooks for the following yr. DD2 gets real excited flipping thru all the new textbooks. The excitement dies down when she has to sit down and do real work.....haha.

              Hi Tink.

I hope not in my case. She came back with loads of story books from the Popular Bookfest today. Her poor godma......She's gonna fill her days with her story books and I'll have her reintroduced to her school books when they're delivered on the 2nd Dec.

Phoenix, oh I see, so the money I paid included the report card! Then they shouldn't have included inside the booklist, confusing all of us :stompfeet:

Tinkerbelle, guess the Chinese cards are still useful somehow, I shall attempt to track down a second hand copy if possible.

Just curious, do you think French is a difficult language to learn?
