Lwzh- Bravo to your child! Sounds very good! How old is he? Did they also test sight reading and other aspects?

He is 8 years old, but Jan boy. They tested him two pieces, aural (sing back, and sight sing), and sight reading.

Frechfrog, if your kid want to go to audition, I suggest you give him some basic training. Somebody told me they basically ask kid sing something, playing something and then test the kid’s ear. Yamaha is very good in these kind of training for kid age 4-6.

Thanks, lwzh, will consider! So for Prep they cannot be complete beginners?

Your boy very good - only 8 and already done grade 6, must be one of those prodigy kids that NAFA is looking for. Should have a very good chance!

Congratulation to your kid! I checked the mailbox last night, no letter. So nervous now…

Kathy, congrats to your kid! Good news! Did he/she have to play a grade 1 piece or just a simple one? Wondering how good a child must be to stand a chance at Prep.

Lwzh - don’t worry. Maybe they take longer to assess kids who come in at the higher grades. If they say accept your boy but come in at Grade 5 level, would you take the place? Good luck yah!

                    Hi, frenchfrog & Lwzh

                    Thanks for your congrats!

Lwzh: I checked my mailbox last night and did not find any letter either. Maybe takes a couple to days to reach. Good luck to you and your boy!

frenchfrog: I have no idea of the standard and chance. What is the take-up rate? I used to think most of the kids will be taken as my child just did a very simple singing and clapping and no touch at piano at all 🙂 My hb said it took only 3 mins!!! (He stayed outside the room)

Hi, frenchfrog and kathyh, thanks for goodwish. Just now I got the acceptance letter for grade 6. This Sunday afternoon there will be a parent’s meeting. We are suggested to go to their concert this Saturday night. Share good luck with you.
