SJI is near SCGS, on Whitley Road. Not that far from Clementi. Maybe 15-20 min by car?
Initially we didn't know where is SJI located.Otah:
How about SJI? Thot they also have SBGE? Your ds can use the EESIS there. RVH has no SBGE but I think DHS has.
Thought it is quite far from our place near Clementi.
After looking at the map, it seems not too far. -
ngbrdad:
Aiyah! The principal should have been more careful with his announcement.Btw when my son's principal announce in the hall that 67 out of 69 pupils from the school were successful in DSA, we were so happy.
Late on we found out that in his class alone, there were at least 4 unsuccessful with DSA.
Think they include WL as suceesful. -
Snow Crystal:
I agree. Just try. You have nothing to lose.
At this stage anything goes. Juz put in appeal for RI too. Given his WL, they may take a second look. Plus, his GEP status may help. Of course you know the number of kids appealing including GEPpers who want to transfer from HCI and ACSI etc would be very long list there. But at least you triedngbrdad:
Thanks.
Problem is he has nothing extra to offer except being in GEP.
Other than that he has a WL from RI which I'm not sure whether can be used to appeal since his score is quite far off.
To make matter worse, we will be away from 14 to 18 Dec.

Hi, my dd got 3A* and A for chinese in 2009. Her score was 253. I heard that it is not unusual as her marks were low A* and low A.
Thank cindylauper and 2ppamm for your response! Looks like there are some others with A*s and getting around 250+. Sigh, not good news but thanks anyway!! :slapshead:
It does sound a bit low, but could it be that his A* are on the lower end? Or that this year's EMS papers are all easy?2ppaamm:
Hello everyone!
My DS got A* for 3 subjects (he is exempted from MT) and got 255. I thought it's pretty low for A* for all 3 subj- can anyone shed any light if this is normal ? I was just wondering if his score has been disadvantaged due to his exemption from MT - anyone with any insights ? Thanks!! -
Mdm KY:
She's not NYPS right? So can't go in via affiliated min COP 250. And she has any accepted DSA CO? She's under S1 posting or outside?Hi Snow Crystal
Can you help me? My DD 259+3, will choice NYGH to her first choice, previous she take part in NYGH DSA, But no interview, do not know why? So I need Appeal for Admission for NYGH, or no need?
If she's not affiliated (not from NYPS) and no CO -Then juz put in the S1 as first choice. Got 50-50 chance lah... cos 259+3 borderline based on last year COP. If don't get posted to NYGH, then appeal.
If she is outside S1 ie accepted other school CO, don't wait already! Go appeal NYGH. No restriction to appeal so also go put another appeal at RGS too. You never know what is demand and final COP at each school.
Good luck! All the best :xedfingers: -

My understanding is dat, everything else being equal,2ppaamm:
Let both child A and child B get the same score 250+3. Will their chances of getting into sch A be different if child A put sch A as his first choice but child B only put sch A as his third choice?
no
if there is one vacancy left in sch A, child A will be given d place since dat is his/her first choice, yes?
MOE says that the PSLE scores are calculated down to many many decimal points so it's very unlikely for two students to have exactly the same score. So the student who's ranked ahead of the other student will get into School A even if he/she puts it as 6th choice over the other student who put it as first choice and scored 0.00000000000000001 less than the first student. -
robert:
I don't know why if I put 7801 (NUS High) into the option list, it shows 'Invalid'. NUS High is so special?
NUSH not participating in S1 posting.
Must apply thru their website one. -
Is it safe to choose a school as your first choice if the score is only 1 point difference from the cop? Example the cop of the school is 250 and the score is 251?

By public transport will take quite a while though.
Any idea 259+3 for RGS or NYGH or NJC or DMH
Your chances are better at NYGH compared to RGS as you can't use your HCL +3 for RGS. So go for NYGH, followed by NJC/DHS. You can use your +3 in DHS but not at NJC, so you can put DHS as 2nd choice.
My dd got 263+2. She got A for chinese and 3A* for the other subjects. She wants to go RGS with her friends but I prefer NYGH as it is nearer. Her score will be in the average range in NYGH but below average in RGS. I am worried that even if she can get into RGS, she will be given low priority treatment in RGS.
My preference: NYGH, RGS, NJC
Her preference: RGS, NYGH, NJC
Any comments on this please? :please:
The girls all start from a fresh slate in secondary school. It doesn't matter if your PSLE score was 260+ or 270+ or 280+. You'll be given the same opportunities so long as you prove yourself. And in case you think that girls who score low 260s don't do as well as those who score 270s in secondary school, that's not true. Secondary school is a different ballgame. Quite often, we find girls who enter at low 260 doing very well in Sec 1, outdoing some who came in at 270s. Similarly we find some who scored 270s performing below par with low GPAs in Sec 1 & 2. So don't worry about opportunities. The more important consideration is which school culture your dd is more comfortable in. RGS and NYGH are both very good schools but with very different school cultures and environments.
