May I ask for some further advice please? I find that it is a bit difficult to \"fix\" my boy's interests at his age now - don't know if it is normal but his interests keep changing. If he is assigned a CCA at P1 which he finds after a term or two, he has no interest, can he reject or change CCA? If he joins the string ensemble, do we have to sign him up for external private music lessons in the instrument chosen/assigned? Or does the school provide the lessons? How about other enrichment clubs like Chinese Chess and Young Aviator - he was really bowled over by the gigantic Chinese Chess set mounted on the wall, and the various plane models displayed in the Young Aviator room. Can he join the enrichment clubs without joining a CCA? Or must he join a CCA first, then be \"eligible\" for enrichment clubs?

      1. Yes, he can reject.
      2. Yes, he can change CCA too, provided the one that he would like to join has vacancy. You will have to make a request and get approval from the HOD. My ds2 just made a switch from basketball to strings last month. But I think if he were to switch from strings to basketball, it would be near impossible!
      3. External music lessons - up to you, but i think quite a number of boys have external lessons. My two sons have violin lessons at home. But when my ds1 was playing the cello, they taught him during the cca and he played in the SYF in 2008. After that, he switched to violin.

Anyway, I hope your ds will have a great time at CHS. πŸ™‚

Meiah, thanks so much for your advice and information. πŸ˜„
      :thankyou:

Hi, I am a new user to this forum. My boy is going to P1 next year. We are facing some transportation issue as we are staying in tiong bahru. We have checked with the school bus n were told that the pick up time is 6 a.m. That's really too early. We are thinking of making taxi arrangement but no cabbie seems to be keen. I have read from this forum that there is someone staying at bukit merah area n will like to find out if you have resolved your transport issue.... Thank you

          Hi Lam
I'm now in the same position as you were last year. My boy going P1 next year and we stay in Tiiong Bahru. May I know how you resolved your transport issue? School bus or taxi or car pool? How much do you pay? The school bus company have yet to get back to us on the transport costs or the timing.

I have just handed in the form to transfer my boy to P3 CHS. Currently under waiting list. Anyone has any experience in transfering to share? Does the school depends on the results to select the boys from the waiting list or does it go by your que in the waiting list? General Office staff said that there may be outcome after 20 Dec. This is such a dreadful long wait...... 😞

My boy was transferred to CHS when he was P3. I cannot remember when I submitted the form, but I got the results before the school holiday started.

Did all the running around, collect his report book and release letter from his current school and submitted to CHS, before the school holiday started.
