Thanks. If crescent girl as 2nd choice, will she gets in also? I also considering tanjong katong girls, any advise on that?

crescent girls COP
2010 243
2009 241
2008 243

If no major shifts, 244 should be able to get in. I'm not familiar with TKGS.

You mentioned yr Ds scored 267, then I say it a shoo-in. The cut-off for last yr was 259, it could not gone up by that much, 1 to 2 point maybe. Don't worry about the vacancies, not all the top boys opt for RI, some will choose HCI, ACSI and DHS. Just go ahead and put it as 1st choice if that is what yr son choice.

Thank you for the assurance. Yes, my ds went to RI yesterday and likes the environment and programmes there after listening to the senior RI boy. We have submitted on line

By the way, did your ds share about the teachers there?

Teachers are great! I like them, but like every school, there are black sheep. My son encountered two bad ones he never stops talking about... to this day! And he is already 17. šŸ˜‚ go to the RI thread.

Met principals for both schools. I like them both, but I like the culture in Crescent a bit better. i guess it depends on where you stay.
What are my chances of getting into RI with a score of 258 + i have already appealed?

i will be putting ri as my first choice and i did not go for any other school's dsa.

So we assume you have no DSA CO and you are under S1 posting. 258 is just below past 3 years' COP and so considered risky. That's why you have gone to appeal at RI under suppl exercise. However, appeal route has even lesser vacancies than S1 posting and your competitors are the GEPpers and top scorers with COs from other schs eg HCI and ACSI wanting to trasnfer over to RI too. Past year appeal COP apparently higher than S1 COP. Thus if you can't get in via S1, your chance of gg in via appeal is low. Any talents to offer RI? CCA? If you have HCL, you will likely get into HCI with the bonus HCL points I assume you have min +1. Your 2nd choice is HCI?
I am in the student council of my school and I am a Leading boy in Boys' Brigade. I have also won many competitions for the school including CCA's. On top of that my father and brother is from RI. Does that help? I will be putting HCI as second choice with 2 HCL points but my dream school is still RI. So do I still stand a chance in entering RI.

Hi parents, can anyone clear my doubt?

4 Children:
A: 256+3 (259)
B: 257+2 (259)
šŸ˜„ 258+1 (259)
😧 259

Who has the greatest chance to enter SAP school like nygh/hci/dhs? If the answer is D, then what is hcl advantage participatedin the S1posting?

Thank you!

Regarding HMT and 3rd language, must decide by next Wed right ?

And once decision is made cannot change right ?

Will the decision not to take up HMT and 3rd language (if eligible for both) affects one's chances of getting a place in a school in a borderline case ?
No it won't.

Hopefully some KSP can shed some light on this. Besides, most of the boys appealing would have some leadership positions or CCA achievements or family are ex RI, and most important, from GEP. The number of GEPpers who can't get RI via DSA is not small at all. 350 GEP boys and RI gives out probably only 160-180 DSA places to GEP boys who hit min 8x%. Other than some GEPpers who genuinely want to go HCI and ACSI, the preferred choice among GEPpers remains as RI šŸ˜“ Did you win any exceptional prizes in competition eg Olympiad Platinum? Ques is : Is Boys Brigade a CCA that is core to RI? I can't answer that. Basically, if you can't get RI via S1, you are up against v strong competition via appeal. You will most likely get HCI.

May I know, have you put RI as 1st choice in your S1 posting form? Or you have accepted by another school via DSA and want to appeal to RI?

I don't understand why you have to appeal if you don't even know if you've been posted to RI yet. Or do you mean you tried out for DSA at RI and didn't get in?

I think your chances of getting into RI are fair. Just put it as your first choice and if for whatever reason you can't get in, you should get into your second choice. And you can appeal again then.

Go out for a movie with friends, take a cool walk in the rain. Take a deep breath. Take a break. The results will be known soon. You have already done what you can. Put in the appeal, and that's all you can do. šŸ™‚

Is there any advantage/disadvantage in applying for 3rd language? My ds does not wish to apply for 3rd language.

No advantage or disadvantage. It's just an opportunity for you to take up a new language if you're interested. And if you're good at it some schools allow you to substitute the grades for your third lang for one of your other subjects.
