Really! I really thought that it was based on priority! Meaning if my dd put SNGS as her first choice and she does not get in,she may not get into anderson because others choose it as their 1st choice? And do u think she will stand a chance w the different of 1 point?

the COP may fluctuate, so it's actually quite safe. it would be even better if your dd takes hmt and has bonus points, as it's a SAP school. i got 249+2, and SNGS is definitely my first choice as i got a lot of good feedback from friends who are studying/used to study there.

Someone enlighten me. Why is everyone talking about appealing when they haven't even submitted their S1 Central Posting forms yet and the posting results are not out? Aren't appeals for when you don't get the school of your choice after posting? I can understand the situation for DSA students who didn't get any COs and now want to appeal. But why is everyone else talking about appealing?

Keke i am also wondering how come so strange this year. The only reason i can think of is that parents ate preparing to put in a school slightly off limit and then appeal later. the rate this is going, there may no longer be much room for appeal going forward.

Jtoh, nowadays everything is \"short-cut\". From what I read, if COP is far off (>=2 points?) from last year COP, putting in S1 posting may not be successful. So, may put in as 1st choice for S1 posting (or may not under advice of school) and submit appeal at the same time rather than waiting for posting results to be out. \"Short-cut\" the process and maybe turnaround time??? I think the schools are gonna receive a lot more appeal.

Btw, I'm curious, do you pay a fee for appeal?

              Don't have... :gloomy:

Thank you so much for your reply. I read the book given by MOE on school posting & posting phase n i understand now that its based on merit first according to their PSLE aggregate scores. But i really dont understand how 2nd, 3rd choice works... Eg, if my dd couldnt get into her 1st choice school, will she be able to get into her 2nd choice school even with other student getting lower score than her but its their 1st? Please enlighten me ^^ thank you!
What are my chances of getting into RI with a score of 258 + i have already appealed?

So we assume you have no DSA CO and you are under S1 posting. 258 is just below past 3 years' COP and so considered risky. That's why you have gone to appeal at RI under suppl exercise. However, appeal route has even lesser vacancies than S1 posting and your competitors are the GEPpers and top scorers with COs from other schs eg HCI and ACSI wanting to trasnfer over to RI too. Past year appeal COP apparently higher than S1 COP. Thus if you can't get in via S1, your chance of gg in via appeal is low. Any talents to offer RI? CCA? If you have HCL, you will likely get into HCI with the bonus HCL points I assume you have min +1. Your 2nd choice is HCI?

I am in the student council of my school and I am a Leading boy in Boys' Brigade. I have also won many competitions for the school including CCA's. On top of that my father and brother is from RI. Does that help? I will be putting HCI as second choice with 2 HCL points but my dream school is still RI. So do I still stand a chance in entering RI.
You are not from GEP rt? I know the appeal form asks if your family is from RI but I am not sure how much weightage they give to that. Hopefully some KSP can shed some light on this. Besides, most of the boys appealing would have some leadership positions or CCA achievements or family are ex RI, and most important, from GEP. The number of GEPpers who can't get RI via DSA is not small at all. 350 GEP boys and RI gives out probably only 160-180 DSA places to GEP boys who hit min 8x%. Other than some GEPpers who genuinely want to go HCI and ACSI, the preferred choice among GEPpers remains as RI šŸ˜“ Did you win any exceptional prizes in competition eg Olympiad Platinum? Ques is : Is Boys Brigade a CCA that is core to RI? I can't answer that. Basically, if you can't get RI via S1, you are up against v strong competition via appeal. You will most likely get HCI.
Why can't RI open up more classes and accept all GEPpers instead ? I know there are some with GEPpers with low T score, but that is not what they are look at in the first place rite ? Otherwise, no need to identify GEP rite ?
Boys generally mature later and these kids might be doing very well later on as they mature.

Some schools do charge. About $50.

LIke that no need S1 Central Posting already lah. Everyone go to the school and put in appeal form.

Haha! More like no need to have S1 Central Posting. šŸ˜„ All schools conduct their own admissions autonomously. Or better still, schools bid for the best students.

No open house for SNGS this year. What subject are they strong in? Trying to read thru their circulars and news at their website to understand more. SNGS is dd first choice.

Why only GEPpers who should have this priority - just becos they are identified at P3 level? In this case, all parents should go drill their kids for GEP (afterall no need to worry about T-score or sec sch thereafter). Your same arguement of later maturity can be applied to mainstreamers as well.....so RI has to open more classes to cater to whole of Singapore kids??

And why must it only be RI? Singapore has so many schools, and RI is not the only school who can groom your kid!

Come on, 别钻ē‰›č§’å°–. There are lots of good schools out there. Have you consider that your GEP kid may probably fare better in a different environment as compared with the competition he will face in RI???
