wormy:
Location wise ACSI is much nearer for us.Hi ngbrdad,
If u know yr DS chances of getting into IP-IB in ACSI is not guaranteed, would you choose ACSI or SJI instead. We r in almost similar situation.
Thank you.
Much easier with transport option as well.
Any info on the daily assembly time for ACSI and SJI ?
Btw is your son from GEP ? -
ngbrdad:
No, he's not. We'd expected a higher score but like yours, something must have gone wrong in the English paper. Not sure if can take any more \"shocks\" (if he can't get into IB then we have to worry again in Yr2) so may opt for safer option say SJI or RV. But all three schools have so different cultures. We stay in central so everywhere is far.

SJI places for IB in yr 3 is max 60 including students from outside.

ACSI places for IB in yr 3 is 100 from ACSI alone.
As for RV, the demand on Chinese is very siong. -
hi ngbrdad,
u have no qualms about doing IB instead of A levels? -
ACS I 2010 IB results :
29 scored 45 pts - perfect score
58 scored 44 pts
70 scored 43 pts.
Total candidates 441.
SJI is a good school. However, ACS I is longer in the market and has the set up to get good results. They are experienced and are getting better every year. SJI is banging on the experience of SJI International… and from their website the 2010 results as follows:
40-45 pts 19
35-39 29
30-34 21
24-29 5
< 24 4
Total candidates: 78
cut off for 2009 for IP in ACS (I) was 255
cut off for 2010 for IP in ACS (I) was 253
Expect cut off for 2011 for IP to be lower … expect it to be region of 252 or even 251. Once you are in IP, you are in and it is within ACS(I) authority to select students from O level track to IP at end Year 1… end of Year 2… A few classes … each class is ONLY slightly over 20. SJI has at least 30 (and maybe 35 kids) in a class.
SJI expected to move out of its current facilities by 2013 and moving back in 2016. Location not confirmed yet.
Think it is rather obvious which school would be the wiser choice. -
Was just told that River Valley principal formerly from Hwa Chong. So they adopted some of HCI policies over at RV, eg if GPA at end of year is more than 3.7, one can go off for overseas exchange/immersion program.
Heard HCI Chinese is really siong but RV is ok. -
wormy:
As long as local Us have no problems with IB should be OK.hi ngbrdad,
u have no qualms about doing IB instead of A levels?
Internationally IB is well accepted.
One thing to note about SJI is the intended shift to a holding site for 2 years from 2013-15, rumoured to be in Bishan.
Probably can find a lot of revision books for A level but much fewer for IB.
That may be my only concern.
If you are doing A level thru O level route, you maybe at quite a disadvantage compared to those doing IP, especially in JC1 -
2centsworthy:

Hi can I find out what is the morning assembly time for ACSI ?
-
Btw there is only one code for ACSI which is 7001 in the S1 posting right ?
No need to indicate IP or o level right ?
When you key in 7001 the computer will indicate o level right ?
