Anglo-Chinese School (Independent)

wormy:
As long as local Us have no problems with IB should be OK.hi ngbrdad,
u have no qualms about doing IB instead of A levels?
Internationally IB is well accepted.
One thing to note about SJI is the intended shift to a holding site for 2 years from 2013-15, rumoured to be in Bishan.
Probably can find a lot of revision books for A level but much fewer for IB.
That may be my only concern.
If you are doing A level thru O level route, you maybe at quite a disadvantage compared to those doing IP, especially in JC1 -
2centsworthy:
From what i can read on the RV thread regarding their Chinese curriculum, it is very siong, especially for my DS.Was just told that River Valley principal formerly from Hwa Chong. So they adopted some of HCI policies over at RV, eg if GPA at end of year is more than 3.7, one can go off for overseas exchange/immersion program.
Heard HCI Chinese is really siong but RV is ok. -
Hi can I find out what is the morning assembly time for ACSI ?
-
Btw there is only one code for ACSI which is 7001 in the S1 posting right ?
No need to indicate IP or o level right ?
When you key in 7001 the computer will indicate o level right ? -
Yes ACS(I) code is 7001. Apply and if your son gets in it will all be sorted out on the other end.
If GEP students either opt for non-IP or don't get selected, they will remain in the GEP 'O'-Level class, along with other interesting cases who may not be from GEP.
I believe that ACS(I) would be an even better choice now than it used to be, for those wondering about whether to apply. There are many reasons for this.

So what time does the school start everyday ? -
School starts with assembly at 7.40 am technically, but students have to be there by 7.30 am. First class is at 8 am, unless there is morning chapel assembly, which will go on (and on and on, as many ACS boys joke) until 8.40 am.

hihi autolycus,tiger262:
I know that this debate - IB vs A-level - is a very worn out topic. Nevertheless, since you have exposure to ACS (I), I will value your comments much more. Please feel free to chip in with your views, when time permits.
You're very welcome. Integrated Programmes are my area of research anyway.
There's a paper about 2 years old that you can download from http://nk11r10-homepage.mac.com/WebObjects/FileSharing.woa/wa/2007TSLNIBDPFInal.pdf.pdf-zip.zip?a=downloadFile&user=brythain&path=/Public/2007TSLNIBDPFInal.pdf. It's PDF, about 300+ Kb when downloaded. Enjoy.
do you still have this 'paper'? pls pm me. the link is not working.
keen to read up more on IP. -
