Hi Starz,

Once there is HFMD case reported in school, they will send out the letter notifying and alerting all parents. Only when it reaches a certain nos, I think MOE will tell the school to close and do all the cleaning up.

Not to be too worry as I know all schools are on high alert to HFMD.

For the HFMD - i remembered there are cases reported and the school will take remedy actions....

I can't remember what are the Pre-Nursery curriculum; you may want to check with the school. But I can see that my girl grows and learns well in school - she really enjoys school and always grumble when comes school holidays that she can't go to school.
thanks. so far what did they learn there and is any hfmd breakout there?

so scary....ic so far did it affect e pre-nursery level? any closure?
Hi All,

My 2nd son will due for playgroup next year. He is taken care by my in-laws at Clementi.

Initially I have thought of registering him at Apple Tree but it's too far away from where my in-laws stay.

Do you know there is any playgroup program or preschool in Sunset Way?

        Many thanks!
My daughters are also taken care by my in-law staying at Sunset Way. The elder one is attending Kinderland at Pandan Valley, need to take school bus. Pls let me know if you find a good one at Sunset way coz I havent decide whether to let my younger one go to the same school or not.

help! panic mum needs help. my son is 4 yr old and has not progressed too well in his existing kindergarten in terms of learning (believe the teacher student ratio is too high for his current pl), and recently, he is a target of a bully. So he has not been really happy. Previously, I thought putting him in a kindagarten would be good, for he gets some form of education, yet gets to spend most of his time at home, a place that he is familiar with. I am now worried that he is not learning sufficiently, and hence am thinking of putting him in a full time childcare, in preparation of primary school.

What are your comments? I am a full time working mum. To run my household, I engage two maids, to manage my 3 kids, a 9, 4 and 1.5.

I would appreciate very much to receive recommendations of good and reliable childcare centres/ kindergartens around bt timah/ clementi for little boys. 1 for immediate placement ....

is kindergarten still a better choice??? :?

Check out http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/childcare/experiential-learning-centre-pte-ltd. My wife knows the principal, and is full of praise for her dedication to early childhood education. She is an accomplished educator.

hey, chief, thanks for your reply. I have heard about the principal, no doubt she is well respected. I hope to hear from other mums feedback if the kids are happy there and learn much? BTW, do you have any recommendations for other childcare/ kindagarten in the bt timah or clementi vicinity? If u see my other posting, you will know that i am now panicking cos my son is falling behind kids of his age group in terms of academic and skills aquistion, and that he is not too happy at his existing pl. Am thinking to changing environment for him. Thanks.

panicmum, given that you already have a 9 year old, you would already be as experienced as a number of us here. By now, you would have developed an intuition for whether a specific preschool is good or bad for your child. A key indicator is whether the child is happy... if he is not or dislike going to school even after a month, that's the sign that the child is incompatible with the environment. And that would be the best reason to start looking for another one. You may also change if you feel that the school is not teaching as much as you thought it should based on the programmes you signed up for, but here you must exercise a bit of patience and spend a bit of effort to understand why. Otherwise, you may get the same results with another school.

It is well accepted these days that sending children to preschools so that they can interact and play with peers from a young age under supervision is better than to let them stay home with maids or older folks. If you want a balance, then let them spend at least 3 hours each day playing or learning with other kids and the rest of the time at home. My 3yo daughter is at Schoolhouse By The Bay in Katong. Their academic programme is not as strong as some others, but I like the way they focus on play and interaction with other kids. I supplement her programme with weekend Mandarin enrichment classes in Katong Mall. It seems to be working well at the moment.

Thanks. My boy goes for 3hr classes daily in the kindy, then cetain days he has enrichment classes. Most of the time, he spends the afternoon playing WII which is not health. I resisted putting him in a child care as I wanted him to enjoy his childhood, and not studying all the time and also be in a familiar environment. But of late, I started thinking of changing his environment cos of the recent bully incidents and since he is also not learning much from the kindy, a change may be good. I started wondering if a childcare may now be more beneficial to him.

I know changing place may not resolve the problem, but at least he may be happier elsewhere. I am just not sure where to place him, that is why I am also checking around. I was fortunante with my 1st child as she fitted into the same kindy well, then, the teachers were also different. There has been a batch of teachers who have retired.

                      Hi Starz,

My daughter is currently studying K2 in Galilee Kindergarten @ 202, Pandan Garden Road. She has been there since Pre-Nursery (3 years old) and I have seen her grown alot. The principal and teachers are all very caring and in term of academic wise - the teachers are all trained to prepare the children for Primary School.

You may wish to contact the school @ 6560 3514 to check with them.
Am looking for a child care or kindergarten for my son. He is studying in a kindergarten now, but the environment is not too condusive for him. Does Galilee Kindergarten provide childcare services?

Hi, really needed feedback here for a good childcare/kindergarten ... son is pretty slow in his reading and counting skills, my fault for being lax in teaching him. have recently engaged personal tuitor to teach phonics, but seems slow leh, so needed more boost. he is 4.5 yrs already. so i now panic, seeing how the other kids (especially so when compare with the other schishida kids in the same class) take on to reading so well. Worry about him going to pri 1.
