I think the Cop wouldn't be that high since this years top scorer and last years were quite close. If I am not wrong rgs cop last year was around 260 and I know of people getting in with 258.

Just curious. How did the girls with 258 get into RGS? Did they already got CO through DSA or they appealed after S1 posting?
They appealed after the posting was unsuccessful.

Twinning is a programme his school NHPS set up for a class to take social studies, HCL, project works etc together with the GEP kids based on MOE's ranking during the GEP 2nd round.

No, it's not true that juz becos NYGH is affiliated to NYPS,
that explains why its S1 COP is high......even higher than RGS.
all these yrs, NYGH is already affiliated to NYPS,
but only in recent yrs, NYGH COP is higher than RGS.
in fact, it's the highest among all sec schs COP,
and also their affiliated COP for NYPS has increased.

so for No. 2 in the list above, u cant really take it with a huge pinch of salt..... šŸ˜‰ šŸ˜‰
that are reasons why NYGH COP is high.....

Hi Augmum- glad to see you here šŸ˜„ NYGH takes in many NYPS girls min affiliated COP 250. So they only have limited seats for S1 public posting exercise, explaining its high S1 public COP. NYGH gained popularity after its IP status (ard after 2007), thru train to HCI (JC). I am coming from angle of quality of cohort. No doubt NYGH's S1 COP is highest. But what is its average COP including Affiliated girls? in fact your DD's DHS has higher quality cos non affiliation plus COP 257/8. The lowest scorer in DHS could well be average in NYGH. When I was a new p6 parent, I had misconception that high S1 COP means very good quality cohort. Only when my frens' DDs enter these schools then we start to learn to look at big picture ie also look at Affiliated COP to see the overall quality. I am merely passing on my experience to the new p6 KSPs not to only look for S1 COP for such schools with affiliation. Ok lah, to make you happy, number 2 take with a small pinch of salt ok   I know your DD from DHS. You yourself from NYGH, is it haha šŸ˜† Of course barring cohort quality, there are other reasons why NYGH COP is high  I personally mention in elsewhere in other threads that it is a gem of its own and I respect Mdm Heng a lot :please:

haha snow crystal.....ok...take it with a small pinch of salt then..... šŸ˜‰ šŸ˜‚

yes, i know what u meant by \"quality cohort\" and the ave score of the cohort with affiliation.
i am trying to explain that all these yrs NYGH is affiliated to NYPS,
but ONLY in recent 2 yrs or so, NYGH COP surpass RGS.....
not only becos of Mdm Heng, see more, speak to more, more info will be revealed. šŸ˜‰

Thanks for sharing. Do you know how the girls succeed in their appeal. Were they very active in CCA or get many CCA/academic awards when in pri school?
Don't know the details. Though some of them have many academic awards and were near top students in their pri school. Sometimes people don't do as well in PSLE i guess.

Hi Bbee - They did not divulge the criteria for interview - but in the past they mentioned that the average Agg score of the kids is 240-245. At the interview it seemed they had targeted those who had 245 and above. I am not sure how many they interviewed - for my son there were 2 others with him.

We went to appeal immediately after the PSLE result. You have to fill in the application form that was filled for the DSA all over again. It has to be online and on the SST premise only. You need to bring EZ link card, P4-P6 results copy as well as any certificates etc that you want to support with. Of course PSLE result slip. I am not sure if the appeal process is a first come first serve basis. They have said can appeal upto to 21 Dec.

At the interview they asked a few questions about his hobbies and his interests, why he wants to apply to SST. Where else he is applying? They also interviewed me - to ask what his habits at home were, do we have any concerns about him being on computer for long hours - his study habits etc.

Right now they told us - that all the 200 places are taken up. But there may still be changes due to transfers etc. They cannot let us know with certainty when they can let us know. So we are trying to be very balanced in our expectation. We will do the S1 selection today and try and forget about this and go on holiday šŸ˜„

Good luck to your son. My advice would be to appeal - but don't get your hopes too high. Also go to the other schools that he may be interested in and get a feel of it. One of the kids 2 yrs ago was on waitlist for SST - they gave him a CO in late Dec - but by that time his heart was already won over by TKSS. And I believe he is very happy there now.
Thank you so much for sharing this piece of info, Vidhyalog.
You have been so helpful, at least we will be mentally prepared if there's interviews for us too. We will be going to the school on Monday as have been busy looking at other schools since psle results was released.

Yes, I did tell my DS that chances is very slim, but we will still go ahead to appeal, our last try since it is his dream school. He has been thinking about this school over the last 2 years. But we have to accept reality šŸ™‚

Yes, we are taking the same approach as you, appeal but to move on to other selections and hope for the best!
All the best to your child! Have a relaxing, safe and enjoyable trip šŸ™‚

Hi, looking for some advise.

My daughter score is 246.

Her ideal school is cedar, but went for the open house today and heard from the teacher there that the cut-off is 248.

Should i still put that as first choice ?

What's the chances like ?

Thanks.
Try O'level Cedar. Might have a shot šŸ™‚
