Yes, there will be categories. I think 3 categories generally. Something like sports, dance, music - I can't remember exactly. I think my son did something like Dance, Canoeing/Dragonboating, Squash. I'm a little hazy on it, bc he also did one core CCA in Year 1 - his choice. He wanted to do it, and the CCA accepted him. But most JH1s would only do CCAs in the CAFE list and not extra.
1) From the \"Choosing your sec schools\" booklet, there are sports/games, performing arts and clubs/societies. Does my dd get to choose 1 from each of these categories for the 3 CCAs?ms_lim:
Depending on what activity it is, could be 2-3hrs once or 2x/week.2) How many times & hours per week for the CCA?
ms_lim:
Nope. But they do do exerpts of various books. The teacher would guide them. It's all under Language Arts which comprises English & Literature.3) Do they have literature book for JH1? If have, can you let me know which book as I would like to get it for my dd to read instead of reading other story books.
ms_lim:
I've not heard of children going for \"tuition\" for this. I should think students in IP schools can manage such presentations. It's all in preparation of their JC years anyway. Class size is small and the children learn to have very thick-skin. ;D4) From CassN's post, it seems that there is a considerable amount of presentation/debate. My dd is weak in public speaking. Will NJC teachers be coaching her on this area or it is advisable to send her for external course?.

:thankyou: phankao for spending your valuable time to clear my doubts. The information you shared is really useful.
By the way, what time do the students need to be in school and is the traffic really bad in the morning? There is a direct bus from my house but will take approximately 45min to reach NJC (w/o traffic jam). -

Have to be in school by 7.40am for assembly. Must make time for walking also, ok? Go earlier and traffic will be fairly smooth.

Not too sure if you are aware that JH1 and JH2 students hv to take Higher Mother Tongue regardless of PSLE MT score or whether the student had studied HMT in pri sch. Only in JH3 can a student opt to take MT or the sch advises the student to do so. Probably not, since it is an SAP school and my chinese isn't that great
Sorry for the late reply :imsorry: -
Hi!
I'm new here XD. I got 258+2 for PSLE and I intend to put NJC as my second choice. First choice would be RGS. What's my chances to get in NJC? Also, why do we have to stay in the school for a term very year? That is my BIGGEST question. -

NJC is not a SAP sch, so cant use the bonus HMT pts. -

Thanks for your reply :thankyou: I am aware of that, but I felt that SAP school's standard of chinese would be much higher than that of non SAP schools so I prefer NJC.Anyway I have already put NJC as my first choice due to the fact that my dad has agreed to chauffeur me there

Btw, I think Nanyang Girls' High School has boarding school for girls only which is open to non-Nanyang Girls' students. NJC boarding school also takes in regular boarders.
If for some reasons the travelling distance affects your time available for studies, u might want to discuss the boarding school options with your parents.
All the best to you. -
1) Which term does JH1 need to stay in the school?
2) For Japanese class, is there any transport to MOELC? How many hours and which day will the lesson be held?
