        They had open-house on 19/10/11 and 26/11/11.

        Sorry for late reply.

The school looks homely and girls look decent. Its academic 'O'level results is outstanding among band 2 schools.

Total : 343 students who sat for 'O'levels in 2010

        328 students got into JC
        13 went to Poly
        2 - disqualified

        11 students - 9As
        44 students - 8As
        100 students - 7As
        Why 2 disqualified?! :yikes:
Are their teachers helpful according the school during the Principal talk or students when open houses?
What JC they always ended up at? πŸ˜„
Is their discipline level high? i hope so. :please:

BTW, i heard that the principal is going to change  . Anyone knows is the new principal good or helpful??
        TIA! πŸ™

I saw, two form teachers in each class. Some teachers are native English speakers. (FT).

In secondary school, every subject gets a lot harder than in Primary school. Generally, Humanities will be the new subjects that are definitely challenging.

Geog and Hist require memorisation to do well for EOY. For regular tests, History consists of source base questions that require one's own analysis. This makes it hard to score in hist. For geography, memorise definitions and basically your entire textbook if you want to get an A. As for case studies, unless you are taking your o-levels, sec1s are usually exposed to maximum 1 case study in every exam/test. Understanding is not enough unless you are doing topographical map-reading. Literature is the hardest. Time is very tight. You need to have a very good grasp of the english language, generally not many people can score in Lit.

Tip: Work very hard in sec1, it is the easiest year of your secondary life. Get all your concepts right and establish a good foundation if you want to do well in your next 3 years.

For history, pure memorising will bring u nowhere......
Its requires analysing, critical thinking and answering skills
to put up yr points clearly for SBQ and essay Q.
As for geog, it also requires essay writing......may differs fr sch to sch....
              Time is very tight too.......
As for sec 2, it requires to answer 2 essay Q and data response Q.

Would like to know more about the subjects in sec sch...more specifically in IP. As above, is Geog or History memory work or not? (seems there are two different views). Also want to know science - physics, chem & Bio - is it like PSLE where students tested on analytical skills, processing skills & observation?

Hi, as my daughter is attending secondary 1 next year, this kiasu mum would like her to make use of her full time this Dec holidays to get her prepared for Sec 1 education. I heard Geography will be a toughie. Should I ask her to read some materials? Haven't bought secondary school textbooks yet because don't know what school she will be posted to. Anyone can advise?

Spot On! I failed my Geography. The only subject I failed in my first CA1 in Sec 1 XD

Haha i guess you're just not that used to the new subjects to cope with! With 3 more subjects to study compared to primary school, you'll take time to adjust. So don't worry too much, you still have many chances next time and you'll do better when you get the hang of it:)
