2011 PSLE Discussions and Strategy

One more thing, I was told during the meeting at HCI that from this year onwards, MOE disallow those successful DSA candidate to appeal once they are confirmed a place through DSA. The only way is through principal and principal agreement whereby one agree to take and the other agree to release. So chances for appeal for those already got in through DSA are slim.

Oh, is that based on the assumption that top 10% goes to independent sch?
My Gal share with me that her sch FT told them that 260 and Above R Top 3% of PSLE
Yes both of you are correct. And some senior expert KSPs have worked out that it also translates to roughly top 3% of PSLE cohort.Snow Crystal:

I believe so too. It's on MOE website.

Yes, some schools are already practising it. I'm just surprised that RI is openly defying MOE's directive. -

On some days the offiicial lesson will end at 1.30pm. So really not as hectic, especially for sec 1. But agree, when it comes to upper sdc, the hours are really longer. If you come to school before 7am, you can beat all the traffic jam along bukit Timah road.
DS like the school but one thing we dont like is that why they need to arrive at school by 7.15am since they are a full day school. At least NJC start at 7.45am ans DHS at 8am.
Hci has a big compound, believe it has one of the biggest school compound in Singapore. I didn't know until someone pointed to me that on the singapore topo map, all other schools are indicated by \"dots\" but hci has some \"area\" drawn out. You can really feel relaxed by just looking at the school field in the early morning, from the clock tower. -

*High Five* Blur Dad, I Try Too ....
I tried. The system does not allow that.OrangeJuice:
Will the system accept if u put two languages from the same cat (eg. Japanese and French) and then put a language from a different cat?
You may only put in only one language. E.g. Jap as 1st choice and leave 2nd & 3rd choice empty if you do not want to take any 3rd language from the other 2 cat.
Not Becoz of KS, but Really Don't Know   ....
I input, Jap in Cat 1, French in Cat 2, German in Cat 3 - And System Promptly Return an Error Message

Thanks for sharing. We will know if this is truly the case when the parents share their stories of successful / unsuccessful appeals later on.
All the best to your ds.

Yes, we really like the enviroment, serene and relax. We also like the strong traditional chinese culture and more importantly through-train to hcjc. We felt going by the 'O' level track and hoping to get into JC eg NJC, HCJC, VJC, RJC is near imposible task going forward, IP is the only way to go.
But this is an MOE directive. But as you say everyone wants a top scorer so it's unlikely that the other DSA school which the high scorer was originally posted to will release the student. Unless there happens to be a perfect one for one swap.

I am sure your ds will find his 6 years in hci fruitful and fulfilling.
