All About Full-Time Maids
-
We finally confronted our maid about her FB account. She still tried to deny so we asked her to log into her account and show us her photos. We deleted all photos taken in our house. I couldnt find the comments about us as mentioned by our Filipino friend though. I might have missed those as most posts r in Tagalog. As expected, i was the first on her block list so I couldnt search for her. So she was purposely trying to hide her account from me.
We told her its v dangerous to do such things on the internet and its a breach of our privacy. We warned her if she does this again she’s fired. We told her we didn’t care if she badmouthed us to her friends behind our back but we can’t tolerate it if she made it public to share w 800+ "friends". She was crying and stuff but I don’t think she really felt sorry about it. But at least she wud be more careful in the future dealing w our privacy.
To be fair, we never put it in black and white that she’s not allowed to have a FB account or not take pics of our home in the first place. So out of kindness, we r giving her a second chance. Meanwhile, I’ll draft a more comprehensive list of house rules for her to sign. We can’t assume anything anymore. -
HWBW, wah! That’s scary! Better to send her back. In the beginning it may be innocent but who knows how things will develop! which man can resist temptation over long term? Maybe he can resist for a few months maybe with the maid bending forward revealing bosom but 1 year???!!! That’s what happen to my ex-Myanmar maid.

I send maid off to make sure it doesn’t happen again.
It’s true Minnie, sometimes it’s hard to put everything in black and white. But with each new maid we learn and very soon you will find your list getting longer. Sometime with this maid you face this problem, with another maid you face another problem. Eventually we will learn. -
DesertWind, contact12, peapot, hquek and 24hr-mum, Thank you!
I told my hubby I really really don’t like her, and don’t want to renew her. He looked unhappy but still companied me to get a new maid yesterday. -
re spelling out rules, how extensive and exhaustive can the employers make the list?? some times we dont spell out becos we DIDNT EXPECT maids to do certain (silly) things. i have never spelled out much rules to my ex-maid esp re FB cos we when employ her FB wasnt so popular then. she didnt hv a FB phone at that time too. many things i nvr spell out (eg cant reveal ur bosom, cant b close to SIR, nvr ask Sir where he works, dont take photos of our hse etc) but she knows and never do them cos she was a SENSIBLE maid.
does our boss spells out everything to us in black n white??
of cos its good to spell the rules out if u can, but it can never be foolproof. -
True, someone sensible will never do it but we won’t know if the maid is sensible until things happen. The best is follow Taiwan and HK style. Transfer them out of the country instead of passing them around other employer.

As I mentioned there's no need to spell out everything. Only those that need to be done and important ones.re spelling out rules, how extensive and exhaustive can the employers make the list?? some times we dont spell out becos we DIDNT EXPECT maids to do certain (silly) things. i have never spelled out much rules to my ex-maid esp re FB cos we when employ her FB wasnt so popular then. she didnt hv a FB phone at that time too. many things i nvr spell out (eg cant reveal ur bosom, cant b close to SIR, nvr ask Sir where he works, dont take photos of our hse etc) but she knows and never do them cos she was a SENSIBLE maid.

A company Employee Handbook is a good example if you've seen one

If S'pore will to follow Taiwan/HK then we must also willing to pay $600 - 800 starting salary for experienced maid, right?
There'll be then no such thing as new and inexperienced maid, huh?

Sure...we can compete on those grounds; but with experienced maids come a whole new set of problems.peapot:

[/quote]Agree with what you said.
With new and inexperienced maids we complain at the slightest mistakes they make. When the day arrives that we're on equal footing with HK/Taiwan then we'll be hiring experienced maids with different set of terms and conditions of employment and, aslo, new sets of problems (as you mentioned).
So, new and inexperienced maids we complain.....experienced maids we will also complain. And thats for sure.
