      Dear all,

I would appreciate your comments and advice on whether my intepretation of the COP announced by the Secondary Schools is correct.

For example, If Cedar IP Programme has a cut off point of 253, my DD with a 255 score will still be accepted even if she puts Cedar IP as her 5th choice and she is not accepted by her 1st 4 choices of NYPS (262), RGS (260), NJC (257) and DHS (256)? I am worried that she will not be accepted even if she has a higher score than the announced COP because she opted for the school under her 5th or 6th choice.

Thanks much in advance for any insight that you can shed on this matter.

Thanks for the confirmation. This helps to clarify how to put down my choices.

Thanks for the confirmation. I have one further clarification. In some discussions, which I am unable to quote or substantiate, someone has claimed before that in the scenario above, if the COP for Cedar IP is indeed 253. Somebody who scored 253 and has placed Cedar as 1st choice will get it, while if my DD has 255 and has placed Cedar as 5th choice will not get it.

I read from the confirmation of my scenario is that it is not possible for someone who has a higher score to be replaced by someone with a lower score.

The posting exercise is purely by merit, then choice. Take a look at that big guide book given out to all P6 students on how to select their secondary schools. It's spelt out clearly on the first couple of pages.
