Of course the school die die also want to keep the boy lah! Otherwise, they would not have offered them DSA! DSA kids are supposed to be the most valued. I remember how one school bad mouthed another school so badly, when my son got DSA into 2 schools. Yes, once you get in through DSA, it is die die also they want you. So sometimes better not to DSA if that school is not really your dream school. You might end up having to wait another year, or switch in the middle of Sec 1, if they've got vacancies.Snow Crystal:

Appreciate your advise here.
For 254+2, knowing the chance of getting into HCI is very low, but still want to give it a try.
Concern is by putting ACSI as 2nd choice , will it mean my son’s chances will be lowered getting into the school ? I read about Merit over Choice, but concern is still there.
1st choice : HCI
2nd choice : ACSI
3rd choice : NJC or RVHS

Yes, the boy might not be happy. But this would give other student a \"warning\" and does not want to set precedent -

hi phtthtp..at Hwa Chong Institute (HCI) open house today 2 pm,
top 3 % P6 boys who are interested to enter HCI, may note:-
if you score 259 & above, school said you are safe.
but if your score is 257 or 258, school request that you kindly fill up the green form from Admin office to appeal.
for incomplete score at 256 or 257, these are borderline case.
school advice that - put down HCI as 1st choice, and make sure that your 2nd choice must be a confident entry into the other respective Secondary school selected.
- incomplete score at 257 means actual score is 254 + '3'.
- incomplete score at 256 means actual score is 253 + '3'.
this is a very important pc of info for those who are keen to put HCI as 1st choice. Can you post this at '2011 PSLE DISCUSSION' thread also...Many are asking about their ds' chances of getting into HCI. thanks

there is an understanding between the principals to facilitate the process, esp the independent schools which have 100% discretion on admission policy -

1) MOE policy is not policy. It is only a guideline. It is up to the school want or do not want to follow the guideline.
2) RI wants to admit students from S1 posting, outside of S1 posting(those without S1 form or already accepted by other schools via DSA) and un-succesfully S1 application. In summary, every students who score well or do well in certian area
3) Is this fair to other schools and other students who has no DSA and waiting for S1 posting?
4) Why MOE is not doing anything?
5) Is RI given special treatment? -

the computer in MOE is programmed to work that way, no emo one
if it is your turn based on the t-score, the computer won't process the next lower score unless your posting is done by the computer -
