      Hi mummies and daddies,

My girl has been asking me for a pet for the longest time (her ambition is to be a vet). She is going to be P1 next year and I worry about her 3 min hotness. She assures me that she will be responsible, I feel that perhaps I should let her try. I used to have a dog but no other experience with other pets. Can anyone recommend a suitable pet for a young girl, some animal that is easy to look after just in case I become the de facto maid.

I love cats. Very independent and easy to train. Mine did not even need toilet-training; self-trained. 😉

I agree with kiddo on this one...
I was thinking of a pet for my kid about a year and a half ago and decided on the hamsters cz they are great pets and easiest to take care (small cages, low maintenance, cheap food and easy to hand-over when on holiday) :imcool:

I have hamster cages, carriers, toys, etc to give away. Also 1 bird cage.

The hamster stuff are not in nice condition but is very usable.

              Interested, pls pm me.

Thanks for all the advice. Hamsters…do they bite? I have this nightmare that my gal releases them in the house and they die somewhere under my bed. I heard they breed really fast too?? Guess I am just paranoid??

cup-muffin, then just get 1 hamster will do for ur gal. Then it will not start breeding. Just ask around, sure can adopt find one for adoption as it breed really fast.

I like the hamster cages with wheel for it to run on, tunnel and slides. But I do not keep any of hamster before. I keep a school of guppies now. Not much maintenance, even 1 week of no feeding still ok. 🙂

My son has been asking for tortoise now... I am still considering his request as the earlier this year I am the one who maintenance his aquarium -school of swordfishes.

Apparently, we have a lot of dog and hamster lovers here. Doesn’t anyone like cats, like me?

Cats? Not for me to keep them as pets. I feel eerie hearing their \"baby-cries\" sound at night. They tends to wander off to dunno where then come back. I have my neighbour's cat in my house a few times.

:rotflmao: Hahaha...no wonder you don't like cats.

Mine are so quiet, you don't even know they are around. They are also very precious so we dun let them wander out of the house, in case they get \"catnapped\"! Hahaha...I can be pretty paranoid that way.
