timtim, i am also like you.... never really step into library until need to read to kids. i try to go every 2wks and get around 6bks, sometimes never finish but it is impt to build up their interest in reading. my 2 boys cannot sit still to finish, i still getting bks which are not too wordy. will kena \"mark\" or not?

also, how many days of PE per wk? wow, timetable change every term!!! last time i think only change every semster (during my time). also can wear PE on non PE days? the boys shirt very thick and my boy is the easy to perspire type.

today bring him to phonics, walk to school (~10mins) already hair wet. i made a mistake of dressing him in uniform. tomolo will let him wear PE.
The PE days depend on the class, some get 2 days and some 3 days. I prefer more PE days since wearing PE attire is more comfortable than the uniform. My son's Term 1 only 2 days, but from Term 2 to 4, becomes and stay at 3 days, so happy. 1 of the PE day is mass PE.

during the orientation, the principal mentioned there will be speech and drama from lorna winston and basketball duirng the weekend for P1 next year and i think it is compulsory. Anyone knows if each is just 10 lessons only and whether the timing and date for these are out? real headache for me now cos sat my girl has maths enrichment and if clashed i have to make time adjustment. wonder how long are these enrichments? feel like emailing to school but dunno if they know too.

        Anyone has any info?

i am also wondering.... cos sat morn is grandparents time. bring them out for jalan jalan or excerise. dun think he will be happy if \"outing time\" kena axed. hope the school will give us ample warning.

if there is a choice, then i would like to let him attend the speech and drama.

This yr, the Lorna Whiston S&D course is conducted during school time, using few English periods one of the weekday. So not to worry, it should not be on Sat. It will end in Sep with a performance.[/quote]Or is it going to change next yr? Oh no, my sat also super pack! If like that, got to opt out already since it's not compulsory. Like that at least better, this yr, if opt out, very boring for the kids not involved, they still got to sit there and watch. Come rehearsal/performance, they also won't be involved. Actually they may feel inferior, so most parents will try to sign up. It's not cheap, about $260, part of it can be paid by Edusave.

Anyway, most of us find the quality/outcome not so good though by a well known school and native speakers. Not worth the money after watching the performance....very disappointed indeed.

        Basketball is something new.

            re: lorna winston and basketball

the principal said will be sat morn, 1 batch start basketball/lorna winston then switch. so more or less confirmed will be sat.

i dun think they expect the P1 and 2 to shoot hoops, more like hand eye feet coordinations.

S$260 is rather ex lei… even for 1 term. think will wait for more details before deciding.

thanks for the clarifications on PE!!

Aiyooo, sat morning, die Liao have to reshuffle my girl music class cos I signing her up for violin.hope the speech and drama dun affect my girl maths enrichment at noon time.

larkspur, is it compulsory for speech and drama? My girl is also packed with all the tution on sat. Already pay all my tution fees for next year, quite difficult to shift her schedules.

                        Hi Larkspur

I thought I heard the principal said that they are strongly encouraged to join. So should it be considered as compulsory?

                        Cheers
