SBC dad: 1) No idea, but I suspect they will try to set internal cutoff at 255; note however that internal transfer to IP can also occur a) by waitlist in Year 1, b) by academic performance in Year 2 going up to Year 3. 2) HV MRT not as convenient as Buona Vista MRT, take 74 or 196 or walk 10 min.

Don't walk, definitely more than 10 minutes. 😂
Closest mrt is Buona Vista and not Holland V.

Maybe walk for JC students where its nearer to BV. Thanks
Yeah probably can reach ACJC in 10 minutes but not ACSI unless there is some unknown short cut.

Heh, it's 10 min if you're young and fit, 15 min if not so young and not so fit... and yes, I did mean BV MRT.

The COP is driven by market forces. It went down recently because of the previous principal leaving the school under unusual circumstances. It should go up again.

Note: look at http://www.streetdirectory.com/asia_travel/travel/travel_id_5902/travel_site_10577/. Cut through Rochester Drive (see satellite map for route).

                Hi Ngbrdad,

All the best on ur DS choice.

Re Straight As for Law n Medicine - Just a sharing, my niece did not get straight As and not from top JC and is NUS medicine. Everyone who knows her would say she is born to be a doctor because of her very caring nature - looks, philosophy and action. My other niece’s good friend did not get straight As from RJC got into NUS law but my very own nephew from the same cohort also from RJC (straight As with distinction for H3) did not get into NUS Law.

Just wondering: do your niece have any relatives (or connections) in the medical profession? The few friends kids who got in all had.
Law, i know is very much dependent on the interview.

The correlation between entry to NUS Med and relatives/connections in the medical profession is often due to exposure — people with such relatives/connections tend to have a more realistic view about the profession and why they would want to go into it. It's roughly the same with the teaching profession: those with teachers in their family tend to pass the interview easily and last longer in the profession after graduation.

I suspect similar factors are at play in Law. I heard that at one interview, a candidate was asked what she thought 'jurisprudence' was about. I shan't repeat her reply. 🙂

                      Hi Mvm

No one else in the family tree has been trained locally as a doctor except her cousin who is a doctor trained in UK and has his own clinic. Paternal Grandpa and maternal great grandpa were both established Chinese Physicians in Singapore n China respectively. Maybe in the genes 🙂 ... but she does not subscribe to many of the TCM methods (as of now...hahaha). No one else in the family in the medical line. Maybe seen too much ailments... esp in her paternal grandma... All I know is that she wanted to be a doc since young. From what I see... it is not an easy course to undertake at all.
