I have a child going to NHHS, have some queries, hope to get some help here. Thank you.

      1) Are all the books on Sec 1 booklist compulsory to buy? Eg. Atlas (Geography), dictionary, poster colours, etc.

      2) Must all students wear school socks, or can wear white socks without school name?

      3) Are you/ your child in the tablet PC class? Any benefits or disadvantages?

      4) Do you/ your child find the school curriculum very stressful?

      :thankyou:

        answer to your questions:
        1) No it is not compulsory, buy what is required. But the Alas is needed.
        2) No, you can buy white socks outside.
        3) No, depending on demand, usually 2 classes. I don't see the benefits, the school will give a briefing in DEC. Hear the talk before deciding.
        4) No, with the COP of about 243, most kids should be able to cope.

For Nan Hua, nearest bus stop is either on AYE or Commonweanlth Ave West right ?

Which way is nearer to walk in ? and how long does it take to walk to NH ?
And what time does the school start daily ?

Hi, went to visit the school on sat. Checked out the nearest bus stop too. There are 2 nearest bus stop. One of them along church of holy cross with buses like 96, 151, 183. The other one at the aye has bus service 963 ( sorry didn't take note of the rest). Students can walk through some hdb block to reach the bus stop. It takes about 10 min I think but if you need to cross over the bridge then prob add 5 more. It s not sheltered though. The teacher on duty said that a lot of students walk in from clement bus interchange and takes about 15 mins. Hopefully there will be a feeder bus soon as the bto next to it seems completed , however the road looks a bit narrow though. School starts at 7.25am.
You considering this for your ds? I m also having a headache with this. Dd prefer this school because 2 of her friends choose this to and the classrooms are fully air conditioned. I prefer Bpghs due to the distance and that it s a band 1 school as compared to nan hua ( band 2) But nan hua is all express and heard from a friend's daughter that almost thevwhole of sec 3 except for 1 or 2 classes are doing triple science as compared to bpghs with only the best 2 classes doing triple science.( she s from bpghs).
Really can't decide and therefore have not submit the choices yet.
          What do you think?

During my time, we were also deciding between BPGHS and NHH. My DS choose NHH because it is fully air-con. all classrooms and school hall. We choose NHH because it is a SAP school. With the chinese environment, hopefully he can do better in HCL. I just want my DS to pass his HCL so as to get the important 2 bonus points for admission to JC and also he need not do chinese in JC, one subject less.

Can any current student of NH give a direction of how to walk to the school from Clementi Interchange/MRT station ?

Is there a short cut near the swimming pool ?

You can take bus 96 from B17 (in the picture) and alight 3 stops later to arrive at the clementi mrt station. B11 and B12 are also common bus stops students go to, if there is a bus there that will send you home. It takes 15 minutes to walk from the school to clementi mrt. Some students prefer to walk instead of taking the bus.

As for directions on how to walk, firstly, turn right from the side gate (or the main gate, but distance for main gate will be longer) and walk till you see a traffic light and cross it. You should see a food court. Then continue walking straight, then turn right, you should be at the road junction. Cross it to your left, and continue walking straight till you reach another road junction. (from here you should be able to see the mrt station already)

And the chinese standard in this school is still manageable, and there will still be a class or two offering normal chinese. So do not worry. ๐Ÿ˜„ As for subject combi allocation, the school tends to give you the choice you selected.

Hi, just curious to know. what's the in-house day camp about? thanks!

                Sorry for the late replay.

The in house camp was an introduction of the school culture, taught them some chinese arts , fun & games competitions ,met some seniors and show them the school compound...

Hi, I'm staying in Jurong East. I had tried out by taking a bus from the opposite bus stop at Ivory Park(near 7 days Adventist). You can take bus nos 97, 97e(peak hour) and 197 (all these buses came from Jurong East Bus interchange). Its travels along AYE, once you see NUS High you have to alight (10 mins) and walk across a short overhead bridge. Follow the path (along AYE) on your right you will see NUS high. When you come to the end of the NUS high, turn right and walk up a few steps and continue to walk on the path then cut out to the HDB then a carkpark. When you reach the carpark, you are able to see Nan Hua Hight across the road (the walking distance from where you alight to Nan Hua takes 8 mins).

If you would like to go to clementi MRT station, at Nan Hua School gate turn right and just walk along the path to the main road where you can see the MRT track. At the end of the path, you can see a bus stop, there are many buses to take Clementi MRT station(walk to the main road takes 8 mins). Alternative you may walk from the school to Clementi MRT station(20mins). Bus no 99 travels from Clementi Bus interchange to Jurong East(opp road of Yuhua CC) and Jurong West then to Jurong Point shopping centre.

I hope it will help you. :xedfingers:
