Hi My daughter has gotten a 216 for her PSLE 2010. We would like to try and get into PLMGSS (peya lebar) But for the past 3 yrs the school has been putting the non affliation as NONE POSTED. Is there anyway I can get my daughter in this school? She really wants to get into this school! She always has been. She takes ballet lessons outside. Is there anyway she can use this and get in? Please help. She really has been dying to get into this school! We are in desperate help! 🙏

PLMGS used to be my dream school but I heard from someone that she was from a different primary school and that she was treated unfairly and I didn't want the same thing to happen to me. But I think that this school is not bad as 2 of my cousins were from that school and are doing well now.

I heard of someone appealing before but wasn't entertained and had a very rude response from the office person when requesting to see the principle.

By prepared to answer questions like what can you offer to the school (for ur case, ballet) and bring the certs or result slips (etc. prelim) if she has done well. Good luck to you and your daughter! ^^

Heard of someone with score of 220 plus got into sec 1 for yr 2011, strange, maybe thru appeal. she is from another primary school non affiliated to them

In reply to ssll query, that pupil with score 220 must have niche area in her CCA.That’s how through appeal she’s accepted.

PL Sec is rising cut off points for it’s own feeder pupils, but non-feeder pupils still have to get above average results to get in.
        Hope that helps.Tks…

I suspect this school is very exclusive only to their feeder primary school. Their Express is band 5 and the Normal is band 1. PLMGSS should open up to other deserving student from other schools with higher T-Score so that it can bring up their standard. MOE should do away with affiliation school and make it level playing fields for all PSLE students.

How good is PLMGSS compare to TKGSS?

          Thank you

Anyone in PLMGSS care to share about this school ?

Does the school has "girl gang"?

How strong is their CCA in the area of sports, uniform groups?

Disappointing that Express is rated as band 5 whereas the Normal is rated Band 1. Does it means that more is focus on the Normal than Express?

I heard that only those in the top T-score will be given opportunity for Talent Development or rather Leadership Development and they are group in top classes. Unfair. Should be given to all Secondary 1 student to have equal opportunity for development. At least in their growing up years, they have the opportunity to develop.

Say to said that there isn’t open house within this period for parents to attend as I understood they have it much earlier. Wasn’t aware of such
            open house.

Anyway, the choice will still be PLMGSS.

To ans yr queries DaddyOnlyGirl…PLMGSS has for last few yrs been taking their own Affiliated pupils wif only agg scores of 220++ or lesser. From wat I know the teachers are really caring and try their Best to push these groups of pupils.

Non-affiliated pupils hv not been accepted due to overwhelming demands fr their own feeder pupils. It started to take in outside pupils this yr,2011.
It is rated as BAND 5 for Express,is really an achievement. In fact,it has been awarded Sustained Achievement Award for it’s Academics(SAA) for 9 yrs.
FYI,next yr PLMGSS is raising it’s cut off pts for it’s own affiliated pupils.
Generally, the PL Girls are well behaved.
It is strong in it’s Aesthetics Prog,Character & Leadership Prog…

Don’t worry, there isn’t any girls’ gang in the school as there is a code of conduct, distributed to the girls, consisting of multiple pages.

As in any mission school, they have devotion session every morning. Most of the pupils are from Christian or Catholic families. Thus they are pretty well brought up. My girl gets along very well with her classmates though she isn’t from PL Pri.
During 2010 open house, parents were told (in private) that a t-score of above 240 will stand a higher chance of being accepted for non-affiliated pupils. There was only 1 class available for non-affiliated pupils unless the feeder pupils did not take up the places.
There are 2 to 3 ‘best’ sec 1 classes whereby pupils between 230 to 260 are grouped randomly.
Band 5 because the express stream pupils are mainly from affiliation with lower t-score. They will pull down the banding since they form the majority.
Teachers are mostly kind and caring. So far, I’ve not heard of grumpy teachers who will nag or punish the pupils.
A great school if your child loves music. She’ll get to learn harmonica and guitar in sec 1.
Not a ‘kiasu’ school, emphasising more on love and character building rather than just academic performance.
If your child is self-motivated, I believe the teachers will help her to achieve her target.
They have nice facilities too, such as auditorium and new indoor sports hall.
Info given to the best of my knowledge.

DD will be starting sec 1 at PLMGS. The school waste no time in administering tests to band students accordingly to their ability. First day of school will be ability banding test. Second day will be English banding test. Wow…

I guess due to a wide range of students from both their primary sch and outside sch, they have to do all these banding exercise. Just hope the sch give equal attention to all students regardless of their abilities.

Does anyone out there know how the ACE programme is like for PLMGSS?Also, any information relating to their COP for non-affiliated Sec 1 students intake this year will be much appreciated. Thanks!

Only know Music Aesthetic lessons are conducted once a week outside curriculum. Aim to prepare the students for music at 'o' level. COP for non-affiliated S1 2012 is '233'.
