Anybody bought the TAS vocabulary book during Popular book fair? I think it’s quite good & the way they put it also quite interesting.

Hi Flowermonaster,
Are you referring to the one with black cover ?
I have both the TAS books...one of them is for compo. Can't remember if it's the one with black or white cover. He attends TAS and so he is required to get them. What I like is the Synthesis section. -

It is never too late to talk about next year, 2012's PSLE.
If parents only start to worry about it next year, it will be too late.
No, I am not trying to instill kiasuness to everyone, but truth be told, the PSLE syllabus will be completed by most schools by mid year, and followed by PSLE preparations in earnest .....
Primary 5 is the year to pick up all the loose ends in any area of weakness in any subjects, and use the end of year (Pri 5) to brush up and be ready to 'chiong' in Pri 6.
Will this stress in the education system to both parents and children end after PSLE or will continue upto University?
All schools would probably do target setting with the kids at the beginning of Pri 6.
So, kiasuparents, if you have been watching and guiding along, it is time to put your hands into the plough and get going for PSLE 2012 !!
Actually some schools discourage families from going on long year end holidays at the end of Pri 5 in a bid to help kids focus. -

No, the white cover, purely on vocabulary.Flowermonaster:

Yes, jedamum. It is at East Coast Road, near to Katong Plaza. That's where their tuition centre is. -
My daughter school also recommended this book to buy for next year. They start using book from P3

HI HappyH,
Thanks for re-posting verykiasu’s post again…I missed it earlier while trying to find this thread.
P5 has been a tough year and I was informed that it’s preparation for P6…which is why so many tough topics were thrown in…kids were also thrown in the deep end of the pool.
Many friends with experience told me this Nov/Dec is NOT playtime…but reinforcing and strengthening P5 subjects…this I strongly agree bcos time passed so fast and we didn’t have chance to go in-depth. Not long after introduction, it was force-fed without deep understanding before SA2. -

Grades were depressing...but no point crying over them...just have to move on. I was looking high and low for this thread...wondering where it has gone to....with release of PSLE results and Sec school posting, this has gone to Page 2.fifiyeo:
Next year this time, He can play to his heart's content after PSLE...provided he has done his best. Have bought those assessment books to focus on those weak areas. Now have to plan when to 'cut ribbon' to have official opening
I'm in the same shoes. Those grades were depressing for us but I'm not sure how my DS feels about it. Still playing everyday.......... today just bought 2 assessement books for him and he's already looking so bored at the sight of them. I wonder when we can \"cut the ribbon\"!
My son is like yours...doesn't seem to feel anything about the results ...playing and playing everyday :stupid: when he has to do corrections, he can still get them wrong :slapshead: have talked to him nicely and also scolded. NO EFFECT...somehow I wonder when he will wake up.
Even if I don't allow my DS to play toys with his younger brother....he'll just waste time in the study room \"playing\" with whatever he can improvise from his desk! Getting any work done is last on his list it seems.
