No info on school bus cos school is very near to house.
Taking mrt n bus should be okay. My main worry is the traffic light on dunearn side. The light on this side changes from green man to red man very quickly and many drivers turning from chancery lane and balmoral into dunearn road can be pretty impatient. Many students and adults have a tendency to dash across or continue to cross the road regardless of blinking green man or red man. So either tell ur child to use the overhead bridge or to not cross thr road when green man starts to blink. -

Just wanna find out how we can go about arranging for transport? What are the school bus fees like? Also, is it convenient and safe to get to the Sch via Newton MRT/ bus? DS is joining ACSP in P4. I am an only child but my Dad was from ACS so he is v happy. Lol. He has been singing the school son around DS a lot. Keke.

Where do you live? To give you a rough idea, a one-way trip from the Farrer Road area will cost around $80. You have to take into account that your son will probably have after school activities which means you will have to pay extra for the \"after-school activities bus\" which only leaves the school around 4.30-4.45pm.
We live in Toa Payoh. I read that we have to arrange for school buses on our own if we intend to send him to and fro by bus. Does anyone know what a two way trip might cost? I'd pick him up but am busy tending to his baby brother who is 9mo.

Toa Payoh is not too far away so you can safely use the figure I gave you as a rough guide. Cost for a one-way trip is usually 2/3 the price of a return trip, so you can do your calculations from there.

GEPpers usually have activities twice a week after school when the school term is in full swing. CCAs are on Fridays. Problem is the GEP activities usually end by 3.00pm, so he would have to hang around school till 4.30pm earliest before the bus leaves.
May I suggest you put him on a one way trip to school in the morning and let him come home by bus/mrt. It is quite safe as you would hop on to bus 700 or 171 on the same side of the school and get off at Newton MRT. No need to cross any traffic junctions. A lot of the boys do that, so no worries. -

How was his experience in ACS like and where is he furthering his studies? -

My brother and myself are old boys of the school, so you can imagine his experience pretty much started when he was in kindergarten. He already knew the school anthem before he started primary 1....keke.

He is also a GEPper so there was not much of a transition in Primary 4 when he started in the programme as he basically remained in the same school.
He is going to ACSI in the Integrated Programme.
The GEP programme in ACSP is carried out at a less stressful pace as compared to some GEP centres like NYPS or Rosyth. Even then, this year's GEP cohort in the school did quite well with 21 of them scoring above 260 in the recent PSLE. That's almost half the class...considering they only really started their PSLE revision in June.
Rest assured, your son will be in good hands. Which school was your son from? -

It is good to hear that ACSP is less stressful an environment which is what we felt was good for our boy. It will be a good fit.
He was previously from Kheng Cheng Primary which was selected because it is just a 5min walk from our place and had the right culture for him vs Pei Chun Public (more Cheena). It isn't a \"branded\" school but had a v nurturing stable of teachers. He was part of the school's elite chess team which was also a reason why we chose the school. It promotes chess (a passion of his and a game he picked up on his own at age 5 by reading a book about it) and chess is one of the school's niche cca. Lastly we selected it believing that the big fish and small pond effect would give him some confidence earlier on and that if he gets to a better school through GEP or PSLE, we would support his leap to a bigger pond. His three years has been relaxing but he found it lacked the challenge that he sought after. So hopefully the GEP will expose him to fresh and interesting challenges that will develop him mentally, grow his curiosity to learn and push boundaries, and through ACSP, develop his character as he journeys with Christ.
When the time comes I prob will have to ask u about the IP. Neither my hubby nor I know much about this route. For now, we shall take it one step at a time, trusting the LORD to send us timely Angels such as yourself to give us a clue. -
