33mama:
depend to each sch, some sch allow you to fill the appeal form but some don't & some even have the form on their sch website.
i tried to ask but they said that appeal form is only issued on 22 dec itself. :roll:happiest:
dear 33mama,
I think it would be good if you could submit an appeal to the school of your 1st choice direct before the MOE posting comes out. At least then the school would know that you are geniune about sending your daughter there. Give it a go. All the best. do call the school and speak to someone regarding admissions. -

It was strange indeed !! :scratchhead: My ds told me that the hr Chinese paper in the psle was easier than normal chinese . However he score A* for Chinese and merit for hr Chinese .My ds was the 1st time score 4A*s in psle ,he also the 1st time score A*s for both languages!!!( eng and Chinese ) Usually he doesn't score more than 2A*s for all subjects :yikes:Interestingly there was one case posted in the possible psle paper review thread that a girl who was consistently excellent in her Chinese grades in school, and even achieved a distinction in higher Chinese in this PSLE, only obtained an A for her Chinese.
The parents decided not to ask for a review in the end.

Usually schools try to set higher standard for their exams, hoping their students can breeze through PSLE. Guess that's what happened to your DS. -

For languages, a school’s standard can be very different from the national standard. Some schools have very high standards for English or Chinese and it would be tough scoring A* in school papers. But compared against the nation, these kids would perform very well. Similarly, it could be that in a school where the standard of English or Chinese paper is average, it might be possible to score an A* consistently in a school paper but not at PSLE.

But is it usual for a kid to score a distinction for higher Chinese but only an A for Chinese ? -

the A* is fixed at 91 marks for schools exams whereas in PSLE,
it is not necessary at 91, depending on the bell curve.....
i clarified this with my gal's pri sch teacher......
becos in her sch, for levels P5 n 6, i observed that there werent a single A* pupil for Eng lang during sch exams,
but for psle.....quite a number of them could get A* -

hmm.....so far din hear of.... :scratchhead:

I think it is pretty unusual. Most of the kids I know got A* for CL and merit for HCL.jtoh:
